[] around text is emphasis ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dahlia slowly made her way towards the bush, avoiding sticks and leaves along the way. Heart thumping against her chest, unease hung in the air. //What could be there?// Suddenly, a small figure dashed out of the bush, running at her. Dahlia leapt into the air, letting out a shocked squeak. Eyes wide, she watched the mouse dissappear into the forest beside her. Suddenly more aware, Dahlia swepted her eyes across the tree canopy. The trees reached out towards the clearing next to the river, their twigs like fingers that longed for the warm sunshine. The water of the river was nothing like before, it was calm and reflected dancing silver ripples instead of the ferocious current that seperated her from her parents. Her heart seemed to slow as her eyes landed on some grey clouds. //Smoke... Could it be a fire?// Dahlia shook her head. She had seen smoke before but that was near the human neighbourhood. Dahlia had spotted plumes of smoke rise out of a opening on top of the human houses. This smoke was similar, small and controlled. It couldn't be a fire. Sighing, she ploped herself down onto the cold soft grass. //Where was mother and father? Are they looking for me?// She couldn't stop the tears from forming. A chirp interrupted her thoughts. Looking up, Dahlia spotted a small bird looking at her. It tilted it's head before chirping again. Without waiting, it suddenly took off. //Dahlia, stop sulking! That won't help you find your parents!// She forced herself back up and looked determinedly around. //I'm going to find my parents!// Dahlia's stomach suddenly let out a growl. //Okayyy... Maybe not right now.// ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Choice: 1. walk upstream from the river: 1 votes 2. explore the forest: 3 votes 3. go near the smoke: 2 votes
