So this is the pin that inspired this fic!! decided to run w/ it so here's some snippets :) lmk what u think in the comments! Things to know abt this au: - all Sunset Savannah second-borns lead a guard and have since before the rule of the King of Beasts (although the King of Beasts revoked the "Only lions in the Lion Guard" law) - they get the roar when: a. they turn 13 (living previous leader or prev leader died before they were born), b. the prev leader dies (i.e. if they die when the next in line is 7, there's now a 7 yr old w/ the roar), or c. they get their unique magic (mages only), whichever happens first. - using the roar on ur guard still makes u lose the roar BUT u can get it back by making a new guard - the guard has a telepathic bond if anyone in it is a mage Formatting thing: "..." is talking / '...' is thinking / [...] is notes/outlines for parts I haven't written yet Warnings: Soft blushy Leona, LeoVil, dumba$$ freshmen This is the ending/the part I have most fleshed out! lmk if u want other parts! ~~~~~ If ur down here I assume it's for the unlock quest! comment one of my OCs names in my pf (whichever is ur fav) and the codeword!
Leona rubbed the back of his neck, gaze focused on a crack in the floor. “I may not have the roar anymore and I may not be the leader of the guard anymore, but if I was, I would want you guys to be my guard,” he mumbled. Rook smiled knowingly. “Ah, Roi de Lion, I could not make out what you said! Could you, perhaps, repeat that?” Leona growled, but before he could say anything, Vil placed a hand on his shoulder. “Now then, Rook, that was quite unnecessary. I’m sure your ears work as well as mine do.” The hunter laughed sheepishly. “Of course you would catch that, beautiful Vil!” “Before he starts talking about Vil’s beauty, I just wanna know something. You were talking about the different roles in the guard earlier, but who would you pick for each one?” Epel interjected. “I was actually wondering that too,” Ruggie added, Jack nodding behind him as Rook and Vil voiced their agreement. [and then he would name off who each one would be and tap each one on the shoulder or something like that ok Vils turn] “I can’t think of which role you’d fill in the guard. At least, the traditional guard, but the leaders of the guard can make an extra spot. Mine is called the fairest. My original fairest was someone who I thought that I would grow old with, who would probably become an advisor or something. I named the spot the fairest because of their sense of justice—and you definitely fit that!—but you also fit the fairest in many other ways, not just justice wise, so yeah, you would be the fairest Vil“ he finished, blushing furiously. ‘Oh my goodness, he’s so adorable,’ he heard someone say, but no one had opened their mouth. Before he could react to that, though, a sudden flash of light sent black spots dancing across his vision. Blinking them away as best he could, he saw the other students in a similar state. ‘Ugh, what was that?’ he heard someone (Epel?) mutter. As he checked over the five others, he saw golden brown marks on each of them. Poking out of sleeves, centered on palms, curling around ears and shoulders, each member of their little group bore the mark somewhere. As if in response, his own mark tingled, magic humming through invisible tethers. Leona froze. It couldn’t be. This felt like the bond, the bond of the guard, but the bond vanished with the roar! There was no way! He had to test it. Concentrating deeply, he thought, ‘Can you hear me?’ ‘Yeah, why?’ ‘Yup.’ ‘Shyehehe! That’s a silly question, Leona-san.’ ‘Oui!’ ‘Of course I can hear you, you stupidly pretty lion.’ He glanced around at the others. “Did any of you realize none of that was out loud?” he said. “Wait, does that mean-“ Ruggie started. “It means, Ruggie,” Leona said, grinning fiercely. “The guard is back.” “So if the guard’s back, does that mean the roar is too?” Jack asked. Epel smirked. “Only one way to find out, right?” 'Test it! Test it! Test it!' the freshmen chanted. “Cool your jets, froshes. I’ll test it out.” Leona laughed. “Make sure you stay behind me, though. Don’t want you getting hurt.” The six students made their way out to the school's Spelldrive pitch. Vil and Rook sat in the front row of the stands, while the other three followed Leona down to the goalpost. The two freshmen had to be held back by Ruggie to keep them from getting too close. “You ready for this?” Leona called. The resounding cheers filling the bond were all the answer he needed. Clouds gathered. The sun dimmed. The markings each student bore flashed golden. Fur and hair alike stood on end. And then Leona roared, the clouds behind him forming huge lions. Hurricane-like winds lashed across the stadium, flattening the opposing goal. All the way across campus, one Malleus Draconia suddenly felt very small.
