welp. I honestly never thought I'd get to this point. I know i'm probably not gonna come back. (maybe in 5 years Idk) but I have been on scratch for 5 coming on 6 years now. how weird is that. I'm an middle-aged scratcher. I was there for the golden age of scratch. where explore had unique projects and not just remixes and generic projects. anyway I'm going on a tangent. not a lot of people are probably gonna read this. I know I have, what 40 followers? only 5 of you actually interact with me. so thank you guys for that. anyway the point. I'm probably leaving scratch due to 2 main reasons. 1. I'm changing schools. I don't know if my new school will have computers or not. Its also a High school. (weird) so if I don't have one well that's a major reason as to why I'd leave. 2. my dad bought me and my brothers a subscription to construct. its a cool coding website that i'm going to be using. well have been using. (fun fact: the game there is no game was originally made in construct.) so yeah. I'm leaving. sorry. project completion rate below ----------------------------------------- chess game probably not gonna be finished/released. my main idea was a chess rougelite that had special abilities for each piece. I only got the how to play chess part made. Yeah I know, Procrastination was high. I had a few cool ideas that I might as well list below. Bishop - slippery - when going in between two characters they bot will have a higher chance of not noticing your move. rook - laser - doesn't move, but picks a direction and destroys all pieces in that direction. (lower the level the higher chance the rook itself is destroyed, and until you reach level 5 it can destroy your own pieces.) I wrote down a couple more but don't remember them. I also was working on - Super rabbit boy land - Based on a kids series called press start that I used to read a lot of when I was in first grade. (ok so only the first four books were out and I never reread them so sue me) anyway I thought it would be cool to make games based on the books. and as most of you know, I really don't like my art. So I made a game engine (that actually works, no enemies or carrot juice, but it does have good scrolling and a way to easily make multiple levels.) and got my brother To make the art. he stopped after making two sprites. So basically I'm probably not gonna finish those. another big project was the warriors game I wanted to make. I've actually been chipping away it it for 3 years now I think. It was based around a project by who was banned and just left scratch. Honestly no idea why though. So that was a bit disappointing but what can you do? I had a movement engine, title screen, and more. hey wait I already released a demo, just play that. the only other project I can think of that I really wanted to do was lemonoids. it was originally based off of griffpatchs tutorial, but I wanted it to be really cool. my newest version I made multiple types of lemons, had a few instruction screens and power-ups. I kinda just went down a rabbit hole and never got the motivation to actually do what I promised to do. so yeah, that's pretty much the four big things I wish I could have finished by now but what can you do? one more thing. Scratch... Why you got bots. cmon. When I first joined the website had zero of the following. -bots -generic platformers -remix chains. I think it slowed down a bit, but when griffpatch released his engine that could have 100 players the remix page was entirely remixes of that. kinda cool but whatever. and then came the annoying era. where generic platformers had thousands of loves, favs, and views. and while the actually good projects are just left in the dust. mainly because the creators just keep pumping out more. Its not as bad, (because it used to be, and I'm not joking at all, the exact same character, background, spike and saw animation, and ground type.) I don't know for sure but I think people just took the sprite madu_56 and trentonTNT's cube. I don't really know. that made me leave for an extended period not gonna lie. Then a bunch of my favorite scratchers either left, or just stopped being as active. and the last annoying thing I want to say is this. PLEASE STOP FOLLOWING RANDOM PEOPLE IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO INTERACT WITH THEM AND ARE JUST DOING IT FOR A HOPEFULLY 4F4 OR SOMETHING IT REALLY TICKS ME OFF. I just need to stop talking before I get set off. but yeah that's basically it. Nice to finally say it. and yet only 3 people will view this. and you probably might be saying "oh, everettmouse, aren't you happy? you made it into the most popular scratchers of 2025 studio" and to that I say: Yes, but my projects aren't good. I'll just talk with someone, gain a follow and then they never speak to me or view any of my projects. my brother westenryker has way better projects but less followers because he doesn't go around talking to people.
if you can't tell by the music, I'm evolving. Unfortuntely the discription above is too long so I have to wrap it up down here. sorry for that much scrolling. Please read above first as otherwise this won't make any sense. In conclusion scratch isn't as cool as it used to be. and not because I'm older, but because it got bots, way too many remixes and generic projects. The only thing I want to know is this. Why in the actual heck does someone make a bot to get a bunch of followers by following people. What do you gain from that? whatever, I'm just gonna stop talking now. Lunaandtiger, I appreciate all the random projects we did together. even if I'll never finish my warrior clicker project. Hopefully my procrastination levels go down the tube and I can come back to a better age of scratch. But if it doesn't... which it probably won't... I might never use this again. sure, I'll randomly pop in and check a few projects, but i'm probably not gonna do any more coding. sorry. but seriously scratch. why bots? I actually have been followed by three people who I think are bots. It really makes me mad to think someone actually appreciates my projects but then its just a bot or someone who joined less than 5 hours ago. and why are random people following me even though they don't check my projects, it really makes me mad. but hey, I did make it to 5 years! that's pretty cool. and honestly, my favorite project was my random sound effects. I actually have fun using it. bye I guess. OH yeah, one more thing. I'll miss working on Gardenstar. I enjoyed it. Check it out if you want.
