Clover is my 3 year old Hanoverian who I’m currently working with to develop with a future of dressage or hunters in mind! He’s super sweet and friendly, and an eager learner. I’m taking the process of breaking him in slowly so that he’s healthy and dependable for hopefully years to come, and has time to fully mature. Today I tacked him up and lunged him, focusing on correct balance. He didn’t seem to mind being tacked much, and aside from some puffing when I put on his girth, he was very still and curious throughout the process! He has great manners on the lunge line, though is a bit sticky on his leads, so we’ll definitely be working on that. I hope to start light flatwork riding with him when he’s around 4, maybe taking him out on the trails and doing some ground poles. Around the age of 5 or 6 I’d like to introduce small jumps and maybe a small competition weekend, but that’s still a bit off, and I’ll definitely be making sure he’s not rushed through any of the process.
