On the 24th of January VPT addressed the SATO general assembly regarding not only the future of the UIS but of SATO as a whole: The world is shifting once again. Old alliances are being tested, new ambitions rising, and nations choosing their paths with a conviction that was, to some, unthinkable only a decade ago and to many a betrayal of good faith. Recent movements across the world have once again attempted to challenge our alliance's position in the centre of global debate on Alliance, Cooperation and Trade. We did not build SATO destroy the sovereign nation. We did not built SATO pursue the wars of woe. We built SATO as a bastion of not only the free world, but also as bastion of who we are. We are SATO and none shall stand before us to challenge us. SATO represents the only body worldwide where individual nations can reap and sow the foundations of Catkind's and Mankind's future. Because fragmentation and suspicion make the world unstable, vulnerable, and disorganised against bad actors. Leaving SATO is a decision to weather the storm alone. No matter how stoic the nation, stone of its foundation will erode to the tide of time. I understand the frustrations voiced in Andover. I understand their people’s fatigue after war, after crisis, after years of sacrifice. I understand Alpine grapple for sovereign identity. No nation can endure endless strain without question. But I must remind every member of the alliance; SATO is not a chain. It is a structure. A system of responsibility. When we see one nation turning inward, closing itself off, declaring that unity is no longer worth the burden, we cannot ignore it. Not out of anger, and not out of pride but because decisions made in isolation often have consequences that spill far beyond one's borders. Some may believe that stepping away brings freedom. But freedom in our world is not isolation. It is cooperation. It is partnership. It is recognizing that standing together often costs less than standing alone. It is recognizing that cooperation is the fundamental future of not just the nation but the planet. We are the ones who are born of this soil we call home and we are the ones who will defend it until we return ourselves to it. SATO will not respond with hostility to the illusion of apathetic relations. We will not escalate rhetoric. To reiterate: Any nation that withdraws from shared security must also accept the responsibility of self-reliance. Any nation that rejects the obligations of partnership cannot expect the privileges that partnership provides. We remain open to dialogue. Open to diplomacy. But we will not allow disinformation to define our intentions or our values. Nor will we provide the systems and reliabilities enjoyed by member states to the independents. To the people of Andover, I say this: You were never abandoned by SATO. You were never disregarded. In the hardest hours of war and crisis, it was SATO flagged vessels, SATO flagged aircraft, SATO diplomats who stood alongside you. It was SATO economies who propped you up. We did so because you were one of us and we were duty bound to do so, not by convention, but by our own nature. And no matter what path you take you will remain our partner for as long as you choose to be and choose to align with us. Our partnership cannot be one-sided. If any form of deliberation to entertain continued vindication of our values, we will adjust. If isolation becomes policy, we will adapt. And if neutrality becomes a shield to reject accountability, then SATO will move forward without those who no longer wish to walk with us towards our common future. It will be SATO who will safeguard peace. It will be SATO who defends the free world. It will be SATO that ensures that the continued stability of our world does not hinge on the shifting winds of domestic politics and ill faith. Our organisation is called SATO. United we stand. We will never fall.
