With the rise of more and more AI content on Scratch, even though the team has clarified since that they do not plan on implementing Generative AI features on the site, the current decision on collecting data from all projects published onto Scratch concerns me for the future of the site. While yes, they have said they don't currently plan on adding Generative AI features to Scratch, the key word there is CURRENTLY. The fact they are currently deciding whether or not to collect data from projects NOW is also a bad sign, which like it or not, points towards implementation of Generative AI in the future. Now, personally, I do not approve or consent to my art being utilized by Scratch Team in this manner, and with the discussion of opting out of being put into the database essentially silenced on the Scratch Forums (Which should be opt-in, to be frank.), I no longer have a place on the site to discuss a means to prevent my works from being used as data by Scratch Team in the future, and thus no longer want to post my artwork on there. So in the coming weeks, I will most likely begin to transition off of Scratch, with the goal of being inactive on the platform by the time Scratch Team does begin data collection if they choose to go through with it, and be active on a specific few Scratch alternatives from now on instead. If you want to find me on said alternatives, I will try to make doing so as easy as possible, but cannot/will not be linking to my profiles on these sites directly. That's all! Just wanted to talk about this really quick. Have a nice day! UPDATE: I won't be leaving entirely, but I won't be all that active anymore.
