link back to og litter: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1227839507/ For the eldest two of his second litter, Weaselstar will carry out a much more strict parenting style. He will love his kits dearly, supporting them as they grow and explore the world around them, but his expectations for them will be sky high, and it's very clear just how unfair they are. He has assigned them as the ones to carry out his legacy, to be the proper children of Shadowclan’s leader, and to in a way, represent their father. He will spin them stories about how it is their given destiny to live for his memory, how it is their sole duty to be the cats he deemed they were meant to be. If the kits stray from this line in any way, Weaselstar will snap, telling the kits that they have failed their sole reason for being, that they need to work to fix it, to be the cat /he/ says they have to be. Because who else could they be outside of that? He will of course be fatherly towards the kits, as not being fatherly would be going against his very core personality, but some of his smiles will feel too practiced, his words of encouragement too rehearsed, as if he’s reading off of a script. For the youngest two of the litter, Weaselstar will not hold these high expectations over the kits heads, giving them a better chance at living a normal kit life. This however, comes at the cost of Weaselstar basically ignoring these kits in favor of their elder siblings. Weaselstar focuses all of his efforts on parenting the eldest two, which leaves the youngest two to watch over themselves. He will not be entirely dismissive, per se, and he will still care for them to an extent, but he won't exactly hide the fact that he has favorites. He will be quicker to turn away, his smiles and loving gestures more genuine at the cost of them being fewer than those of their elder siblings. It’s not that the kits did anything, or that he resents them in any sort of way, but he’s convinced himself so thoroughly that Mongoose and Wolverine need his guidance more, and now he has little left to give. Weaselstar for the most part will raise his children alone, without the help of the rest of his clan. The kits will be raised mostly in the leader's den rather than in the nursery. Though Weaselstar will make no effort to hide them away from the clan, and will let them roam and leave as they like, he will make it very clear to everyone who asks that he intends to raise these kits by himself and would very much /not/ appreciate any helping efforts, even if it's a simple suggestion on how to do something. Even with the presence of his mate Orcapond, he will continue to reinforce this solo parenting style. He will not consider Orca a mother to the kits, nor will he accept any help in parenting, but he will make no effort from stopping the kits from viewing her as a ‘motherly figure’ and will not stop Orca from acting motherly towards the kits if she so pleases, just as long as the idea of Orca not being the kits mother is thoroughly established. He is their only parent. Family values are very important to Weaselstar, and despite his hesitance (codeword is any mustelid species. Name it somewhere in your application!) to expose the kits to too much of the outside world, he will not shy away from introducing the kits to their auntie Ferretcloak, their older cousins, and their older siblings, Stingraypaw and Manateeflutter. He will tell them stories of their grandparent, Hyenahawk, making sure they know how important he was to Weaselstar. He will also share stories of his deceased siblings, Stoatslumber, Thymepaw, Goldfishpaw, and Captainpaw. Since his second litter of siblings died so early, Weaselstar may be more protective of the children, especially around their apprentice moons. Also please note that these introductions may occur oorp. It should be assumed, regardless of the amount of roleplays between Weaselstar and the kits, that they interact on a regular basis. Weaselstar will remain almost entirely in the leaders den with the kits until they reach 1 moon old or are able to walk and talk by themselves, whichever comes first. After that point Weaselstar will be up and about more frequently.
kit titles: Mongoosekit: The Star’s Chosen Successor A title given without knowledge, a future painted before he even opened his eyes because he happened to look like Weaselstar, a mirror to his soul. What does that mean for him? Essentially, it boils down to this: A life where Weaselstar molds Mongoosekit to be a perfect copy of himself, strongly believing that it was written in the stars that Monty will live on for him when he’s no longer here. Any deviation is unacceptable, any step straying from the path wrong. Wolverinekit: The Second Heiress It’s a picture painted to seem like a gift, like Wolverinekit is on a pedestal just as high as her brother, Mongoosekits. But the reality is that Wolverinekit will live her life knowing she is nothing more than someone’s second choice, a backup plan in case the golden child doesn’t shine as brightly as needed. Her sole purpose in the eyes of her father is to be his heir if Mongoosekit fails. What kind of existence is that? Knowing that you’re nothing more than a fall back… Marmotkit: The Moon’s Folly The daughter that wanders the border between the sun Weaselstar avoids and the moon he cares for. Weaselstar knows that Marmotkit is of his blood, his daughter, one of his kits. But Wolverine and Mongoose need him more.. Don’t they? He cares, yes. His daughter, his child. But he still turns away, unsure of what destiny could await her, so he makes no effort to try and unveil it for her. Civetkit: The False Ghost He wanders Shadowclan like a ghost, just out of his fathers view, far enough away for Weaselstar to turn a blind eye. He’s there, but not. He is the one that Weasel is the most unsure of, the one whose fate seems unwritten, leaving him with a blank slate that both whispers of chances to become who he wants to be, and an emptiness that could be the very thing that eventually consumes him.
