chapter7 tn is fergus I growl playfully as dash jumped at me, and I was pinning sunny. "leave her!" snapped dash. "no!" I shook him off as sunny thrashed. It was day, and the sun was high. "Rosie! come!" ordered dawn as I let go of sunny. I jumped onto a fallen tree trunk and arched my back in a long stretch, enjoying the feeling of the sunlight on my gray and orange fur. It would be spring soon. I grinned as I got down and went over to dawn. "were going on a patrol." dawn declared. "because tommorow is your fight." I froze at the last words. "Oh, I'm a mouse brain! I forgot. I need to go to Fergus and tell him I cant meet!" I thought. Dawn stretched. "ready? were going down to the old oak to the herbal gardens, then I think Moon assigned us to the Tall pines." she said. "then lets go. quickly.." I trailed off as dawn gave me a weird look. "why are you such in a hurry?" she asked nosily. I stiffened. "um..got stuff to do!" I said quickly. "hmm...yes...stuff to do." she said as I relaxed and followed her. "I'm so glad spring is near!" I said happily, trying to change the topic. Dawn eyed me. "oh? same! finally I can go and hunt normally!" I bared my teeth. Once we reached camp, (finished with the patrol) I looked over my shoulder as I dashed out of camp. I padded to the barn. I saw Fergus chasing sheep...with...someone. I jumped over the fence. "FERGUS!" I called, the other dog saw me, and reacted. she snarled as she raced over to me. "who are you?? AND HOW DO YOU KNOW MY BROTHER?" she demanded. I wince. "Fergie! what are you doing?" Fergus caught up to her. Fergie stiffened. "protecting you." she said, shaking her pelt. "Rosie! Rosie, I'm sorry. this is my overweirdo sister, Fergie. she is only 8 months old." he remarked. Fergie snorted. "I'm 10, actually. and stop lying, Fergus!" she growled as Fergus flinched. "yes, sorry.." he mumbled as he shook his head and changed the topic. "so, why are you here?" he asked me, and my eyes widened. "BECUASE I cant meet you with you tonight." I whispered as fergus growled in alert. Fergie bristled. "WHAT??? FERGUS??!!! Fergus, is this true? meeting up with...with a dog? A RANDOM ONE?" she snapped. Fergus winced, then straightened up. "shes my friend, sis. Also, the meetup was a plan and none of your business." he growled. "now go back to your bed! I told you once were done with the sheep you can go." he looked back at me as his eyes softened. I looked at him- really looked, then at Fergie with a amused look. she started whining and muttering, walking the whole way to the barn. I laughed. "Shes very sassy, isn't she?" I teased as fergus snorted in embarrassment. "lets pretend that never happened." he looked sweaty. My eyes softened. "I don't mind. now, about the reason I cant meet up. I have a fight tommorow, and I have to get ready." fergus looked confused. "a...fight? YOU BATTLE???!! WITH WHO??? DONT YOU DARE DIE!" he commanded as I let out a snort, Laughing. "I wont. I fight with my pack mates, and I lost about 3 of them when I was a pup," I shifted my paws. "and I'm fighting my brother Juniper, I think. I overheard alpha saying it." I explained as understanding dawned his face. He dipped his head. "I get it, but I'm still not sure its nessacary to fight with someone you grew up with," he hesitated, then added. "Stay safe. promise me you won't die, Rosie." I nodded. "I hope so, too, fergus. bye." I whispered as I slipped out of the fence and went back to camp. I slipped into the trainees den. I bit into a mouse, then I lost appetite. I looked around, then drifted into sleep. *** I woke up groggily, then saw acorn standing outside the den, gossiping with dawn. I blinked, then got outside the den. Alpha and Moon were standing on the highstone, faces firm. dogs crowded the whole clearing, whispering and murmuring. Acorn gritted his teeth, then saw me and his face fell. He looked at me like I just killed his father. What was going on? I Looked around, waiting for alpha to continue. "Dogs of wolf pack, please listen. Circle around." he ordered. "today, the fighters will be Rosie, versus my son, Acorn." he announced. my heart dropped. This wasn't the end. it was just the beginning.
