…..Annnnndddd the art becomes this. Don’t judge. This is what happens when I don’t use procreate. << Chapter 31 >> These thoughts… are they my own? Darkmoon runs through the twisting caverns, her sight blurred by tears. It can’t end like this. It just can’t. All this time, leading her to the mountains, meeting Redwood, this isn’t how it’s supposed to end. Every inch of her wants to keep fighting, to make a last stand, but the last lines of the prophecy echo through her head. Unless she’s killed by a deathly lord It was about her before, is it about her now? Everything is so twisted and tangled, paths unwind and collide before her eyes. The Fates… she’s not alone. It’s just a matter of WHO’S with her. She clings to all the hope she has, tense, but still as ready as she ever has been. A sacrifice so strong ALL spirits are repelled. A sacrifice that is given willingly, with fight behind it just the same. A sacrifice from the night. The vision she saw in the cave squirms behind her eyes, over and over, while she takes flight. Everything is ready. Fear runs in between the trees, zigzagging through twisted brambles. By her side, Ash runs, barely a few paces behind. A pouncing distance behind them both, Star chases after. Fear gracefully leaps over a twisted branch, but Ash stumbles and Star is upon him. Fear cries out, and Star gives her his pointed-tooth grin, then lets out a hollow laugh and… It happens in slow motion. But the realization hits Fear as she leaps to bowl Star over too late. Reality snaps back and Star snaps Ash’s neck. ‘In the next life!’ Ash calls out, one last fearful cry. Fear lets out a wail of distress as Ash fades away, then turns to Star. A snarl escapes her lips, her claws already unsheathed as she lunges for Star. Redwood opens his eyes to see Loonclaw’s blue eyes meeting his. ‘What is it?’ He demands. ‘I’m not sure how, but I think Darkmoon’s in trouble. Not just that. I felt something… cold.’ Loonclaw grumbles. Redwood’s eyes slit in fear, although he has no clue what Loonclaw is referring to. ‘Hi.’ A grey she-cat peers into the cavern. ‘Are you Loonclaw?
