this is my book - in - progress, its all about 6 girls in middle school and they find out that they have magic when they sing. oh, also they are in a singing club and evil monsters are trying to off them, but that is a story for another day.
The announcement had been buried in the school bulletin, sandwiched between a notice about a lost laptop and the after-school chess club. Singing Club—new members welcome. Riley adjusted the straps of her backpack, taking one last confident look in the mirror by the door. “Okay,” she muttered. “This is it. My kingdom awaits.” She strode down the hall like she owned it, practically humming the first line of a song she wasn’t even going to sing yet. Lila lingered behind, twisting the strap of her bag nervously. Her footsteps were almost inaudible on the polished tile. “I… hope it’s not scary,” she whispered, glancing around.“Scary?” Riley spun over sharply, her long brown hair spinning with her, her tone sounding as if she was annoyed. “It’s a club. Not a haunted house.” Camren bounced up next to them, clearly thrilled to be there. “I just hope there’s snacks,” she said. “Clubs always have snacks, right?” “And rules,” Vally muttered from the back, leaning casually against the wall. Her eyes scanned the hallway like she was plotting a heist instead of joining a club. “Don’t forget the rules. Clubs are weird about rules.” Stella, immaculate even in her uniform, walked with precise, deliberate steps. She carried a notebook and a pen like a shield. “I’m not here for snacks or chaos,” she said, her voice sharp. “I’m here to excel. If this club isn’t organized, I’ll make it organized.” Finally, Nari appeared last, slipping in quietly as if the hallway itself had swallowed her. She kept her head down, watching everyone else like a spectator at a play she wasn’t supposed to be part of. The music room door loomed ahead, a polished wooden portal with a small sign: Singing Club – First Meeting Today, 3:30 PM. Riley flung it open like it was the entrance to a stage. The room looked… ordinary. Chairs stacked against the walls, a few keyboards, a grand piano in the corner, and a microphone stand that looked like it had seen better days. A faint smell of old wood and dust filled the air.“Wow,” Camren breathed. “It’s… a room. With instruments. Revolutionary.” Vally smirked. “Pretty sure Hogwarts would be impressed.” From the back, a tall figure stepped out of the shadows—wearing a simple cardigan and glasses, but something in her eyes seemed ancient, calculating, almost… otherworldly. “Welcome,” she said, voice smooth as silk. “I’m your instructor.” Riley squared her shoulders. “Riley. Leader of… well, you’ll see.” “Lila,” the shy girl murmured, almost apologetically. “Camren.” “Vally.” “Stella. ” “And Nari,” the quiet girl added softly.
