If you wanna look good, take your glasses off. Don’t sweep out the corner dust. Sit on it. Block it with dead bodies and broken vending machines. The heart desires emotions, whether or not they are lies. The heart desires intentions, whether or not they are true. Forgiveness requires housing a foreign philosophy and prostrating yourself in front of it every morning even if it feels pointless to believe. Forgiveness is not always caring, nor is it always selfish, nor does it always heed results. We are bereft of a reason to love ourselves only because we refuse to take our glasses off. Those pimples and zits are distracting, no? Those ink stains, tear tracks, slashes of zig-zagging scars. We deny having blood inside of us and squirm when it emerges into daylight. Take your glasses off. It’s raspberry juice.
