(WARNING: This story may be upsetting for some readers.) {Setting: Crisis City} As Otto’s future vision fades into a clear path, the collie shifts his feet into place and stares Venice down. Otto: …to kill your wife and son. Venice instantly hurls a blast of energy at Otto, but the collie dodges. The attack hits the ground instead and explodes. It leaves a large crater, cracking the street around it. (>>>) Following Otto’s aura, Venice rockets right for him. He sends out multiple smaller blasts from his hands, but Otto sees them coming. The collie leaps and bounds away quickly. Silver watches in disbelief, barely able to keep up with the fight, as Otto avoids all of his Father’s attacks. He’s never seen anyone, or anything, move that fast on their feet. Silver: Father can’t keep up with him. *his ears lower* Florence: *worried frown* I’m sure…f-fighting blind…isn’t helping. Leaping onto a light pole, Otto jumps off onto a windowsill of a building, then hops to another. While he’s scaling structures, Venice doesn’t relent, hurling waves of energy at Otto. Slicing the buildings, and causing them to collapse. Reaching the roof, Otto dashes onwards and hops onto another roof, and another, leading Venice on. Despite his skillful avoidance, Otto grits his teeth in frustration. Otto: *thinks: I can’t keep this up forever! And I have no clue how long he’ll last. It’s impossible for me to attack Venice when he’s right on my tail! I need some sort of opening!* Bellowing shakes the city, and Otto’s eyes widen. He takes a swift glance to see Iblis closing in on them, trudging through the lava. In the lake, there’s towering pillars of rock that rival the skyscrapers. Otto: *thinks: Maybe I can create one…or that thing can take him out for me.* Dodging turquoise arrows, Otto races for a building, and leaps off of it onto one of the rock towers. This puts him nearly an arm’s length from Iblis. (>>>) Otto: *swallows hard, then continues to jump from pillar to pillar. A familiar intense heat sets in against his body.* Venice follows. He readies another attack for Otto, but Iblis hurls flaming rocks at them both. Venice: ! *snaps out of his pursuit and puts up a shield. He winces as the projectiles strike it.* Otto: Yipe! *drops down and clings onto the column’s side. The magma rocks fly by, missing him.* Venice: “Psychic…KNIFE!” Throwing out a turquoise blade, Venice hits Iblis straight in the chest. Screeching overwhelms their ears. Iblis staggers back once more, and its hand grasps onto the city street to hold itself up. Silver: ! *brings Florence away from it as he keeps the energy band around her* Otto: *catches his breath as he gazes about, then spots a pillar near Venice* … Venice: *realization comes over his face* … *thinks: I am wasting all of my energy. Everything we did will be for nothing if I do not defeat Iblis— but if I do not stop that man then—* Venice looks around, but doesn’t see Otto’s aura. He feels it dart behind him. Venice: ?! *turns—* Otto jolts up from the pillar. He swings and strikes Venice between his back quills. the hedgehog is knocked out of the air. Venice hits the street and rolls, until he crashes into the side of the dumpster. Silver looks on in horror. Florence: V-VENICE…! *tries to turn towards him* Silver: *grips ahold of her as he tries to keep his focus on the psychic band, but he can feel power beginning to waver* Otto: *lands onto a pillar and crouches on it as he catches his breath, then gazes at Florence with a guilt ridden face* … *thinks: She’s really still alive? She’s got to be in bad shape— I need to finish her off while Venice is down.* Silver peers over again, hoping to see Venice move, but he remains still. Silver jerks his head away, his breathing intensifying as he desperately focuses on Florence’s injury…but this tightens the knot in his chest. “You never learn, do you Venice? It’s just as I predicted. This is ending the same way as all of your other efforts…” Otto hops back onto the street and shakes his axe, staining the ground beside him with droplets. He grips the handle again while staring down the boy and his Mother. Silver’s eyes dart between Florence and Otto, but the psychic band weakens, forcing Silver to give it his complete attention. He puts himself over Florence again as his quills raise. Otto grimaces with a sickly scowl. In his vision, he sees the young hedgehog remaining over his Mother, even after the final blow. “…in vain…and at the cost of everyone else around you.” Venice’s body shifts. It starts to tremble as his head weakly tilts up. Otto dashes towards Florence & Silver. His vision repeating turns his stomach, but he still swings his axe up and takes aim for Florence’s head… …when a bright light flashes from behind the hedgehog family, nearly blinding him.
