Look at who it is! It's... Niko... right? Would you think that?... Alright, enough prologue! If you know anything about me at this point, it's one, that I am the biggest Doge connoisseur, and also, that recently, I've started to gain large interest in the game OneShot, and along with that very recently, I've started to become more interested in the specific so called "Sonic.exe" character Rewrite, and since both of these "games" treat the fourth wall like a simple barrier separating you from the characters that can be broken at any time, I thought, why not fuse them? But right, this monstrosity is called Freeware (referencing the original version of OneShot from 2014 for an indie game contest), and really, for story, it kinda just has the same basis as Rewrite, except the person who created the program wasn't actually a bad guy, and like the Sonic version, Freeware Niko is an AI with infinite knowledge, and was accidentally made to lure in victims to its world. However, unlike Rewrite, who kinda just takes "Sonic" as a name it has, Freeware has adapted more to being "Niko", for before it takes you to its world, it acts kinda like a "therapist", mocking the player who boots up the program and how much they've grown to miss the character after their adventure (which is partly similar to what Rewrite does, they're both very friendly according to the naked eye). In this AU, Niko was originally supposed to come to the system, but instead, the World Machine created a direct AI copy as a means to keep a real person out of harm, but in turn, that would lead to more harm than good, for it gave the AI all the knowledge it needed to fully adapt the personality of Niko, and due to OneShot being a game without a fourth wall, and Niko being the one able to break it by talking to the player via the sun, Freeware learned about the world outside of its reach, and would later gain the knowledge needed to become omnipotent and the "God Messiah". Now, it lurks in the files of finished OneShot playthroughs, and redirects their players into its world to become their next victim. Unlike Rewrite, who uses red rings that represent souls to become stronger, Freeware uses phosphor colors that are guarded to keep it from becoming too strong, but defenses always fail, and usually, a character sprite within the land of that phosphor is taken as well to Garner the effects. Once it has all four phosphor colors, the program resets and you are now stuck as a character in the simulation, your avatar representing who you were in the real world, and your memories start to slowly fade away until the only thing left is the character. (press any key or click to see all the different forms) Yeah, this character story wise literally is just Rewrite, what do you expect out of another half cooked fusion!
This is one of the two characters fusing Niko with a "Sonic.exe" character I've made as an inside joke, this one representing how both Niko and Rewrite are the two characters right now that I never shut up about! I guess for this specific project, a credits section would be a good idea. OneShot belongs to Future Cat LLC, the character Niko specifically belongs to Nightmargin, Rewrite belongs to SpringlessEcho, and what you are listening to right now comes from the OSTs of both OneShot and Vs Rewrite Round 2, but the fusion of the two songs (specifically Simple Secrets and that one part in Trinity Encore) was made by me, and this character technically only exists to go along with it.
