Catholics Do Not Worship Mary. Here’s What We Actually Believe. Catholics worship God alone. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Worshiping anyone else would be idolatry, and the Catholic Church rejects that completely. So why do Catholics honor Mary? Because God honored her first. “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you.” (Luke 1:28) “All generations will call me blessed.” (Luke 1:48) Calling Mary “blessed” is not unbiblical. It is biblical. Intercession is not replacement. The Bible encourages us to pray for one another (1 Timothy 2:1). Asking Mary to pray for us is no different than asking a fellow Christian. Except Mary is alive in Christ (Mark 12:27) and is uniquely close to Jesus as His mother. At the Wedding at Cana, Mary shows exactly what Catholics believe she still does: She brings a need to Jesus (John 2:3) She tells others, “Do whatever He tells you.” (John 2:5) She does not act apart from Him. She points to Him. Prayer - worship. To “pray” simply means to ask. Catholics do not offer Mary sacrifice or worship, that belongs to God alone. Mary receives honor, not adoration. At the Cross, Christ says to John: “Behold, your mother.” (John 19:26–27) Catholics believe Mary is given as a spiritual mother, one who leads souls to her Son, especially those who feel alone. Mary does not replace Jesus. She magnifies Him. “My soul magnifies the Lord.” (Luke 1:46) Always Mary to Jesus, never Mary instead of Jesus. Ad Jesum per Mariam Thank you for reading, God bless <3
