Please read through this entire instructions section. ST Member has opened up about it and cleared up a lot of the misinformation about this: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/post/9021790/ Scratch's Official Statement on the matter. Check it out here: https://www.scratchfoundation.org/ai Quote from the new article: "We also want to assure you that right now, we are not training any AI models on Scratchers’ data. Our work in this space is still in progress and as we iterate and improve our approach to AI, we want to hear from you. We will create opportunities to invite our community to test and provide feedback on AI-powered features as we design them, and you are always invited to send your thoughts to us; we read every message, and we are listening. Like everything at Scratch, we’re building these new features with you in mind, and doing our best to keep Scratch a safe, fun place for you to create what you imagine." My personal response to this: I'm glad we got a statement, and it has made me much more comfortable. However, I'll remain a little skeptical for the foreseeable future. ------------------------- Source: https://mitscratch.freshdesk.com/en/support/solutions/articles/4000219182-scratch-terms-of-service Also, please check out this project by @CupieMaster. It has resources and also further clarifications on Scratch's history with AI so that you know what to expect: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1269751874/ Unearthed blog info about Scratch's upcoming AI from July 2025. Hopefully it clears some things up and maybe helps cool things down a little. They did in the past, but the idea was scrapped. They DO have an AI assistant planned that can take assets from other projects as suggestions and examples. Whatever the case, I disagree with the collection of data from projects on Scratch, and I disagree with the idea of retroactively putting all Scratch projects up for training. Also, please don't send hate to the ST for this! Apparently most of the ST didn't even know about the update until now. I have doubts that this change is within their control. UPDATE 1: Supposedly, according to the ToS, projects deleted (unshared, moved to trash, cleared from trash) within the next 30 days will not be trained on. Idk how true this is, but do not be surprised if my TAG X animations disappear suddenly from Scratch. UPDATE 2: I've done some thinking and noticed that some clauses about AI in the ToS seem to contradict themselves, making Scratch a closed source for data. Essentially, only Scratch can collect data and use it for their own things. Scratch's upcoming AI does not generate images, it can only grab assets from other projects it deems as good examples to answer questions. I really have to wonder if all that this AI clause is saying is that your projects will be used to help the AI understand what kind of projects exist. In the event that this is the case, I think I would be fine. For now, I'll remain cautious. You may notice that some of my more recent projects have been swapped to bitmap so as to protect my new vector character models. That's something I did just in case. UPDATE 3: Scratch Foundation has just released an official statement, stating that they have no plans to collect project data for AI training for the time being.
