UPDATE: I've heard and seen that this Scratch AI update is not based on our art, or at least isn't anymore. This is a huge relief. I still don't agree with the idea of using AI in a ChatGPT idea generator way, either, this is still harmful I still mean everything I said below. Am I glad it isn't blatant art theft? Yes! But... for how long? And how long until it is used for something irreversibly harmful? Guys, upon hearing and seeing all of this nonsense about ST bringing AI onto our platform, I have some words on that. - AI MIMICS LIFE... badly. This is a platform full of young artists and programmers, people who have the world at their feet and are ready to take it. AI makes us complacent, it takes away effort and learning and replaces it with something fake, slimy, and sickening. Having kiddos walk into that on a website many of us started on for school is wild. It's becoming so normalized and accepted. That isn't okay. AI does NOT equal accomplishment. It's lazy. It's damaging. It transforms what could have been a beautiful piece into something uncanny. - AI STEALS. Whatever you're using Generative AI for, if you think it's harmless it's unfortunately NOT. All of AI's information is taken from real people. None of it is unique or creative. People take other's hard work and feed it to machines, and suddenly the machine owns it instead. -AI BREAKS TRUST. The more AI that sneaks into our life, the more we start doubting real artists, real musicians, real workers, real PEOPLE. People who put their life into their work are accused of creating via AI. And as AI becomes more advances, it's getting harder and harder to prove otherwise. All and all, incorporating AI ANYWHERE is a horrible idea. But bringing it onto a learning site is nauseating. I'm so incredibly disappointing that the site I've been so comfortable on for 7.5 years has given in to the 'new norm.'
I do not and will not support generative AI. Do not follow me or interact with me if you support or use generative AI. Do not EVER feed my work into AI machines. Art is accessible. Use your hands, use your heads, use your hearts. All my love, El.
