Anyone who is supportive of generative AI, do not talk to me, do not interact with me, do not come near me. I want nothing to do with the likes of you. - - - So. The AI situation. I'm mad, and sad, and disappointed in Scratch. I thought so much better of this site. This is frankly ridiculous and should be treated as such. There's not much we can do at the moment, from what I've gathered, except go to the discuss forums en masse and suggest that those in charge give us an opt-out at the very least. // UPDATE!! There is also a petition, linked in the third project in the notes and credits. // For those artists among us, you can poison your art with Nightshade and Glaze, but fair warning, they're both apps. Glaze has a web-based version, but you're required to create an account. There are also some AI poisoning filters out there, though I'm not sure if they work. I'm linking a project in the notes in any case. // UPDATE: the abilities of the art poisons are very debatable due to AI companies developing ways to conteract them, such as LightShed. // Keep in mind that this does not only affect what you post from now on, but likely also what you've posted prior to now. Taking your projects down is always an option, but I don't think they'll be safe from AI unless they're entirely gone from Scratch-- i.e., deleted. And even then I'm not sure if they'll be safe, as they could still be stored on the servers. I'm unsure as to how all this works, but I am, as I said before, linking projects from those who may be more informed in the notes and credits below. Now, on to the more personal part. I commented on the discussion post already, and it's linked in the notes as well. I'm in turmoil right now, and unsure of what I'm going to do. Scratch has been a home and a community to me for a long while, and I'd be very sad to quit over something like this. I haven't reached a concrete decision just yet, but I will let you all know what I do end up deciding. I won't disappear without some sort of notice first. Stay strong, everybody, and fight back.
