middle school - A Series of Haikus The ambient lights, A dry piece of chicken thigh, Crowds of noisy kids. Biology class, Dominant and recessive, Confusing glances. Language barrier, Attempts to communicate, Awkward silence falls. The world fades away, Words and imagination, Gate to a journey. The bell comes and goes, Scribbles forming words and tales, Bus left last minute. A green open field, Our laughter echoed the sky. Grass on my jacket. Chaotic classroom, Flying notebooks and pencils, Proud of my own work. Middle school dances, We find an empty classroom, Play songs of our own. Words that are like knives, Tried my best to comfort her, Sobbing in my arm. The last day of school, The same hallway, different feelings Dumb love confessions. Cold glass against cheek, Landscape begins to dissolve, Just memories now. They’re memories now.
