please do not comment on this project if you support gen AI. respectfully i do not want to hear it ————— hello there! i would like to address something on scratch that affects me and the rest of the art community. as many of you have likely heard, scratch recently updated their terms of service and is now using the work of artists on scratch to train generative AI models. i will remain civil for the most part while writing about this for the sake of not getting into any arguments, but i’d just like to say that this absolutely disgusts me. due to this change many artists [including myself] are reluctant to post. generative AI is INCREDIBLY harmful to the environment and it is taking money from real artists, writers, etc. who are passionate in their work. to implement AI training models that are not optional on a children’s website used by many who are young enough that scratch is their only place to post their work is, in my opinion, completely immoral. not to mention that scratch is built for people to express themselves creatively, through coding, visual art, writing, and much more. it is confusing to me that scratch of all platforms would support soulless robots stealing ideas from real and creative people. ST writes in an article [https://medium.com/scratchteam-blog/introducing-creative-ai-at-scratch-bcdbd6c3efc9] that they use AI as a “creative tool” but at the same time they express that their users are very creative. if that is the case, why do we need to use AI? that’s the thing. WE DON’T. thank you for reading my rant! bye bye
