Full Title : In Which I Post A Project Like Everyone Else Detailing my Feelings on AI in Scratch /* Note: I edited this a day later because I wrote it at like 1am and needed to think a bit on what I’m going to do and also I needed to collect more information. And then edited Jan 31 because I felt like adding funky comments, and I also cemented my plan for what I am going to be doing*/ //mwahaha java commenting syntax my beloved <!- - bam take that now its html - -> “ “ “ I will say Scratch did introduce me to coding and that has started to become like a big part of my life, its really fun :D People if you are leaving Scratch, try to keep coding or doing art :) Scratch was a good platform to learn the basics before moving on to text based ones “ “ “ # I can only comment so many times like I’m just coming # back to this to mess around Hi guys. So about the AI thing. I did end up writing a email to Scratch (I admit I did borrow like half of it from my essay for school on AI) but still! It took a bit, and I am very displeased with the direction Scratch is going. I am not putting it here because I fear it would not fit in the description boxes. I grew up on this site, and at this point in my life, I don’t have anywhere else to go. I don’t know where else I can post my art and continue to create in the great communities that I’ve seen on here. I’m still trying to figure out what the heck’s been going on, and I’m really just looking at section 8.2 of the ToS. That says that they can use anything we create to feed into AI. Like there are a lot of misleading reports and that’s the only thing I really found straight from Scratch. And it isn’t great. As for what I’m doing, I will remain as a lurker. I shall finish up the round with thgrp, and eventually create a website for my art. Once I’m in college I /might/ get social media. Not a huge fan, but eh, whatever connects me with other artists and people. I’ll talk to myself in my profile comments, so feel free to stalk me there or just ask questions. I am very obsessed with my newfound power of :sparkles: website-making, and I can and will yap for ages :) I shall put the link on my profile when complete. I do have to finish a smaller, less chaotic one for an art portfolio first though, so that will be my trial run. College and summer program applications are coming up, and I want to show off both art and coding so… website!! :D That will not be shared with all of you because I use my real name and I dont trust the internet lol But as for my personal one, that will be for you guys. I’ll like add a comment section so you can drop by, or at least a guestbook :) There will also be some cosplay stuff too, if any of you are into that! Because I’ll probably have like an almost blog of just me creating stuff. Like I made a dragon out of cardboard last summer, and I just sent out updates to my friends every day, so it’d be like that but with cooler stuff. I know, what could be cooler than a dragon?! The answer: a hammer (it glows and will move if I can learn enough about electronics) But back to AI. In general, I just think this is a terrible idea. Who knows if they’re even using the data to train now, but the key point is that they’re allowed to, so long as you agreed to the ToS. Honestly, training off of children?? Our brains aren’t even developed until we hit 25. If you feed an algorithm with bad data, there will be a bad output. Simple facts. In general, I would say that Scratch as a whole would generate a bad output. Do people type with correct grammar? No! I didn’t even learn most grammar rules until PSAT/SAT studying!! It paid off but still! Do people code in the most efficient way possible? No! That’s part of learning to code, you find what works and what doesn’t. Debugging, finding all those little pesky errors, it’s all a part of the larger experience. Is everyone’s anatomy and art perfect? Of course not! Everyone has room to improve in art, for to quote my favorite character, “There is no prize to perfection.” What do you get if you can draw the best? When there is no more room for improvement, where will that lead you? Failure is a key part of life, just as improvement is. We are not perfect because we are human. And that is enough. There is no point in introducing an AI that will only bring the easy way out for people. The longer route is how you learn and grown as a person. It is how children grow and maintain their gift of creativity. If you have to ask AI how to do everything in your life, are you really living? Anyways. Really hoping they take it off and stuff. Also I’m testing funky outfits for my bird guy (gender neutral) And I did change the thumbnail bc i feel like this fits the project better. :) Aside from making a website, I’m going to be making some more fun things like a death laser /hj (for completely normal reasons I swear) But I’ll do that later after I finish the hammer and I also need to learn C++ and how to solder first :D
