It can still off you 1 second after it's gone, after all. -> Unequip any item (including umbrella skin) by the time Kookoo's countdown reaches 0 to survive KOOKOO. (Every time the hand goes back to pointing up in his clock indicates 1 second has passed. Also shown by "Unequip in" to make things easier.
