I have seen how ai generated images, videos and pieces of writing have spread throughout the internet over the past few years. What began as something relatively harmless, now poses itself a threat to artists and the creative community alike. I understand that ai is useful in certain fields, but we do NOT need it to generate nor train off other peoples artwork WITHOUT their specified consent. I myself accepted and didn't initially read the new tos unfortunately, but I don't believe that ticking a box should allow an ai to train off of my and other peoples artwork with nothing but malicious intent. Why should I yield to a force that will eventually kill creativity? This is no longer just about scratch, this is about our future. For the scratch team, or whichever high board of governors that decided to give this the green light; the way you set about trying to hide this new program is disgusting, and downright manipulative. I can assure you, we will not stand for it.
(26/1/26) kind of a small update: apparently scratch isn't training the ai specifically on art? i don't see a big issue with the use of ai in regards to helping identify issues with coding (if that is what they are planning), however their response was vague and focused more on safety and personal info, which isn't really what the community was concerned about. we'll just have to wait and see, i suppose
