As I'm sure any active scratcher is aware, Scratch has recently changed their terms of service to allow all content on the platform to be used to train their AI. I personally do not consent to this. Unfortunately, that leaves me grappling with a difficult decision: take down my content to protect my peace, or leave it up for the sake of people who continue to encounter my old work. As an artist, I will never consent to having anything containing my work be used to train artificial intelligence, out of principle. Generative AI steals from real people. If there was an option for me to opt out, I would choose it in a heartbeat. If there ends up being an option to do so in the future, I will. However, as it stands, even though my work on this website is anywhere from three to eight years old across several accounts, it's still not anyone's to data-scrape. I wanted to give my two cents on this matter and a couple of days' heads up to any remaining audience members/followers before I essentially wipe my account. I'll also allow folks to give their best attempts to talk me out of it; I don't really WANT to do this so much as I have to, because of my values on this matter. If I see that folks genuinely benefit from the existence of my work and that it outweighs the risk, maybe. I won't listen to "AI isn't harmful" or "its not stealing art so what's the problem" arguments. I deeply apologize to my former audience and those who enjoy my projects. If you are 13 or older, you can find me on tumblr @ hhoneycloves, where I still post semi-frequently. My content is mostly for older teenagers and young adults, as I'm an adult myself, but you're welcome to view my work.
