In case you weren't aware, scratch has added a feature that feeds art on here into AI!! YAY!!! You can't opt out of this, as well. This is a children's website, for god's sake. Taking kids art, and feeding it into a soulless machine that is incredibly eco-unfriendly, is an absolute horrible thing to do. I started drawing seriously only 4-5 years ago, when I was eleven/twelve. I posted a lot of said art on scratch, and if this update had rolled out when scratch was still my main art platform, I genuinely might have quit. THEFT IS NOT CREATIVITY. AI ISN'T CREATIVE. This can kill children's creativity. Generative AI doesn't create out of thin air, it takes from many different sources, almost always without any consent of this, and creates images or text out of that. To use children's creativity for something like that is like, supervillain-esq. It's also HORRIBLE for the climate! Scratch has had multiple awareness weeks or whatever they're called about climate change and encouranging people to help. Only to do this! Guess that morals can be forgotten if money is on the line, huh? (Generative AI uses a lot of energy and water, which is why it is bad for the climate) AI art isn't art. Art has thought and work behind it. If someone didn't care enough to make it, why should anyone care enough to look or read or listen to it. This isn't even about art, either! Kids could post pictures of their pets and get that stolen to the ai. I'm not leaving scratch because it is such a huge part of my life, but I might stop posting art dumps. Praying they roll back on this update.
