Everyone's heard the news (and in case you haven't https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1269751874/ ). Obviously this is probably one of the worst things that can happen to Scratch. Stopping this before it takes up momentum is the easiest thing to do. But how? There are a few methods. Efficacy TBD, easiest: Sign a petition. (it made me remove the link to post this sorry gng. look up scratch on change dot org theres several) Efficacy probably good, also easy: Make slop. Random, senseless images will effectively poison the AI and prevent it from generating things normally. Efficacy notably less, easy: Contact ST. While they aren't really going to listen to one person they may listen to many and get an idea. Efficacy also notably less, harder: Make a forum post. See above Efficacy less, easier: Respond to existing forum posts. This pushes them to the top of the discussion. Efficacy very very good, easy: Spread the word! Efficacy very good, hard (maybe): Boycott and delete all projects as they cannot be scraped when deleted **UNSHARED PROJECTS ARE STILL SAVED TO SERVERS!! THIS DOESN'T PROTECT YOU!!!*** Also, PLEASE set your name and location in the petition to something fake. If you don't know how, click on the icon (if signed in) go to Settings > General Information > change the name -- extra ideas from kasper: - if you dont want to unshare your projects, there's a few things you can still do. --- add extra, pointless sprites. bonus points if it's just junk images, it makes it hard for ai to generate things off it. --- add junk code. same idea as the last one. do make sure it doesn't actually do anything so it doesn't interfere with the project, though. --- if you're just posting art, then i reccomend using programs like glaze or nightshade, or simply an anti-ai overlay on all your art. these will protect your art, and some even poison ai databases. --- watermark //everything.// even if its a low-effort game, slap a watermark sprite over the top at low opacity.
