To anyone with information on the AI situation

This probably isn’t the project you were expecting from me regarding this situation, and in all honesty I wasn’t really expecting it from myself. However, I wanted to both spread awareness about what’s currently going on and begin to try and clear the already extremely muddy waters that have begun to transpire these last 24 hours- especially that latter one though. This project is gonna be fairly short since I already have a LOT of stressors in my life right now, but again, I wanted to make something about it. For anyone unaware of what’s going on, yesterday scratch made an update to their TOS and privacy policy, an update that said that all projects and their contents would be used to train ai. There have also been reports of people getting a popup asking for their state for age verification reasons, however I personally have not gotten this nor have I looked too deep into it. That is all I can say right now for a fact, and even then that ‘fact’ is uncertain due to how much misinformation, panic, and overall chaos there has been in the wake of this update. Which, is where this project comes in. I’m looking to make an essay on my main covering this situation, however as you’ve probably seen yourself, getting information has proven to be sort of difficult. There’s been contradicting reports, some people are getting the age verification popup meanwhile others aren’t, and so on. I’ll just cut to the chase here: if you have ANY information about this situation, whether it be links to official posts from scratch, projects made by others on here, forum posts, screenshots, what have you, then please do feel free to comment them on this project. Similarly, if you even just want to share your take on the situation, then comment that as well. I’ve already seen projects by others, but I want to see more and hear from you all directly. The project I have planned will undoubtedly take a while, possibly a few weeks or more, but to me, that’s the best case scenario for my essay. That will give me time to compile a timeline, get as many sources as possible, see how the petition and upcoming boycott goes (Feb 1st to 7th I believe), get a potential response from scratch team, etc. I wish I could say more, especially in relation to my own feelings on the situation, but I just can’t. I don’t wish to spread misinformation, and I want to be able to research as much as I can before I make a statement on just this account, much less my main with far more reach. One thing I do want to say though is this: human creativity will ALWAYS prevail over generative ai and the corporations attempting to push it into every facet of our life. Things are bad right now, I will not sugarcoat that, but it’ll get better. The bubble WILL pop, and there have already been signs of it. OpenAI is losing more money than they’re bringing in. People are realizing how useless ai truly is. Never stop creating, whether it be on scratch or elsewhere.
