Missouri french is a distinct version of french that was spoken in parts of missouri, illinois and a tiny part of indiana, it originates from the french colony of new france and the intial small settlementation of the large colony, after the louisiana purhase however the language began dying out due to agressive anglicization policys committed by the americans not only to missouri french speakers but to all non-english speakers across their lands, as a result as of the most recent survey (2015), fewer then a dozen people speak this language, and only in a small town south of st louis, there is revival efforts but this language is regrettably pretty much dead, this is the language i most want to be revived due to its historical significance to my home state of missouri, it is different from normal french due to its english characteristics, infact a missouri french speaker cant really understand a normal french speaker and vice versa.
Part 1 of my Missouri Linguistic Series (Yes i know i said i was taking a break but this is very important to me so ill make it anyways.)
