CHAPTER 11: "Spy Game" (Part 3) Once our Mike Clean returned to the Green Hill Zone, he encountered Rouge who was looking for him. “Hey, Rouge!” [Here you are.] - “Hello.” “I prepared something for you!” “Really? What is it?” – [Stay focused… Stay focused…] “This! It’s for you!” – Arctic Fox gave her a shiny jewel. Bat’s eyes lighted up: he kept his promise! [I’m sorry Knuckles, but seems like I’m not going to follow your orders anymore.] - “Aw, thank you, sweetheart!” – Girl took it and put on the neck. It matched her perfectly. At this moment, she realized Knuckles was absolutely wrong about Snow. If he’s such a sweetheart to make a gift for a stranger he just met, then who would believe he is a spy? - Definitely someone jealous and nothing more. “Um... You might remember I told you I am not really into hugs, so... Would you like to have one right now? May it be an exception.” Snow didn’t wait for such a surprise, so he couldn’t decline. Once he embraced Rouge, the Bat dived in thoughts. – [Why didn’t I try this before? Hm… I remember now. Shadow never liked hugs because it reminds him of Maria. By that, he misses so many shared moments. Maybe I should show him to Snow? Maybe Mike change his mind and help him? Will do it.] Both enjoyed the moment. – “Also… Sorry for me being tight-lipped.” “It’s alright! Knuckles acts similar.” [Knuckles… We’ll need to talk.] – “Thank you for the gift and embrace, friend. I need to go for a while, but I promise to return soon.” “Okay, bye, friend!” [Friend… I like this word.] – Rouge flew to Knuckles for a serious talk. Echidna saw everything and was disappointed. His rival, the one who was left uncharmed by that Arctic Fox is now under control too. Such a shameful defeat. Rouge landed behind him with crossed hands. “Seriously? You were impressed by some simple trick? Imagine how much money he spent on it.” – Knuckles is upset. “Trick? He did it out of kindness, not on some shady purpose.” – [Say whatever you want, but I’ll defend my friend.] “He knew you love jewels, so he used your weakness against yourself.” “Enough. He's just a cutie and you refuse to admit it.” [You are a bold one.] – “Cutie? Well, you're standing next to another "cutie" who betrayed Sonic twice.” “He's different. If that’s all you got, I’m out.” “Wait!” Too late. Rouge left Knuckles. Echidna was so disappointed, so he went to Amy’s house. Sonic and Tails already returned and brought Big’s camera. Two best friends, Tails and Amy, were taking pictures. Knuckles entered their house without knocking. - “Seriously. Can you believe it? Rouge is now under Snow’s control! No. Just listen! She was charmed… By some jewel!” Two friends weren’t listening to Echidna’s complaints, but they knew something is wrong. “Someone is grumpy.” – Amy noticed. “I have idea.” – Tails responded and whispered something to his friend. Now both approaching suspiciously. Knuckles stopped complaining and looked at them with confusion. – [I have a bad feeling about this.] Amy and Tails tickling the Echidna! Grumpy face changed to amused expression and loud laugh. After few seconds, guardian run away. The Hedgehog and Fox giggled: they defeated gloomy guest with tickling! It was the best option, since trying to counterargument wouldn’t end well. Now they can continue to take pictures. --- Shadow was resting after another unsuccessful search for Omega. – [Maybe it’s time to give up?] Yet his teammate is here. All thoughts aside. Hedgehog noticed Rouge wearing a jewel. “Nice jewel... Who gave it to you? Was it the Echidna, or maybe the Hedgehog?” – [Why this thing reminds me of Sonic’s fangirl?] “None of those. It was an Arctic Fox.” [I knew those two aren’t capable of making such gifts.] - “Arctic Fox... I don't know any. Tell me about them.” “He's my friend. A 10—” Shadow interrupted. – “10? Aren't you a little too old to be friends with him?” “Well... Sonic is friends with Cream, so why not?” [Let me explain.] - “Sonic is 15, Cream is 6. Age difference is 9. You are 18, Arctic Fox is 10. Age difference is... 8. Okay. You win.” “Great. Now I must show you to him. He's so cute!” – Bat took her teammate’s hand and tugged it, eager to show her new friend. – “let's go!” […If you insist.]
