This is getting out of hand. AI is not a form of art. It's wormed its way into places where people share their art, and make other people happy. We don't need this. AI is not art. It has no creativity. We deserve to have the peace of mind that the things we look at were made by people, not a computer. It makes me sick that scratch, which is full of artists trying to share their art free of AI, is jumping on the bandwagon. AI is making it incredibly difficult for people to be able to look at art and think that a person is good at art, good for them. No. Instead, we have to wonder whether it was made by a person at all. Scratch, for a while, was seemingly safe from all of this. It was avoidable in this situation though. Scratch implemented this AI themselves. It's unbelievable. A majority of the people using scratch are minors. And that's fine. But AI is learning from our art and could re-create it almost flawlessly. People I've known for a long time and watched them perfect their art have been accused of having an 'AI art style' more than once in the past.
The scratch TOS is VERY vague about what they're trying to do. BUT ALSO, mass panic isn't going to help at all, and deleting accounts and posts just adds to that. Honestly, I don't even think it does anything. But one thing that doesn't add up to me: There are very talented artists on this platform, don't get me wrong. but training AI on a 9 year-old's sharing their art online is kind of a weird move.
