This is all of the text from the original project: Attention scratchers!! You probably already know about the new scratch terms of service. If not, here’s a project that explains what’s happening very well. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1269751874 As the users of this website, we have power in numbers. If we peacefully protest this new addition to the website, the team might listen to us. I suggest we boycott. We pick a week where nobody gets online. Nobody posts, nobody comments, just dead silence from the entire scratch community. Spread the word, post projects, let the CEO know how against the new terms of service we are. At least convince them to add an opt out option. (Also!! This is not an incentive to be rude and disrespectful to the scratch team. We can do this in a civilized manner) February 1st to the 7th, we boycott. From your friendly neighborhood Wyv.

Look. You may think all of this is unreasonable. You might think, "Just approach them about it! Ask them to stop!" Yeah, uh, they need a good reason. A whole Scratch Community of reasons. Normally, I would think that this wasn't too bad. Actually, that IS what I thought. Until I found out that they weren't going to ask us. They weren't going to give us an opt out. They wouldn't even give us the dang knowledge that they might use projects for AI. In fact... They might use this very project to train AI. And that's not all. I went back into the Terms of Use, and I found out they can also allow third-party websites to use our projects to train AI. Let that sink in for a moment. Third-party websites. You don't know which. They're using your code, no matter if you like it or not. To train a bot. That you may not even support. Yeah, I see you, AI art protesters. Now, with all that being said, Scratch confirmed that currently, they aren't training AI. But they have every right if they did want to at some point. And you have to admit, that's pretty concerning. You might think there's nothing you can do. A drastic, out of reason protest to the ST? No quicker way to get you banned. Quit scratch? Too far, man. This may be messed up, but quitting won't do any good. That's why I encourage you to do this protest. Go offline for a week. You can't get banned for it. You're just offline. But it still has an impact. Join us on this protest. Help us change the rules. Stand up for the Scratch you know and love. ~grangerjunior P.S. In case you didn't know, the song is "Rewrite the Stars". I chose it because in a way, we are going to rewrite the stars. The stars are the Scratch Terms of Use. Rules that seem unchangeable. But we are going to rewrite them. No matter what it takes.
