So... hello. This isnt really a good way to post a project after not really doing much for a while but i just really need to spread an honest thought about Scratch's new "AI problem." I'm still very new on scratch but before the new ToS I remember seeing some projects joking about like 'what if scratch added ai', or something like that, and now it's real. I'm genuinely scared about the outcome of Scratch and even if it's only an ai assistant, and i mean this with every bone in my body, That doesn't help. As many people have said this, majority of Scratch is kids (as the website is literally for kids around 8-12 [I'm pretty sure]), kids would constantly rely on ai to solve problems for them and not do work for themselves. Not that they shouldn't get help, it's just they may rely on it too much, especially young kids in this generation. Sometimes i think, 'dang it i wish someone was here to help me', but now that it may happen... It's so...ambivalent (mixed feelings about something or someone). And again, as people have said this, kid's artwork, coding, their own work that they made, should not be fed into a SOULLESS MINDLESS ARTIFICAL PIECE OF MACHINERY. THESE ARE KIDS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. I do not want our work- WE DO NOT WANT OUR WORK GIVEN TO AI!!! (at least most people don't...) [read to bottom of 'instructions'] I really hope scratch does not follow through with this. There are so many good people on Scratch just trying to make games, and animations, and just trying to like, fit in with people who understand them, and here they go adding AI, like what the actual fart- Idk how making a website works, or like running a business and like the stuff you have to do or whatnot (as im literally only a kid who knows like a tiny bit more than other kids at my age, mostly tech-wise), but like... You did not have to add ai to the website. we were perfectly fine before, and like i said, i only joined like 5-6 months ago so i have no idea what's been going on before that, but as a 'wannabe' animator/game designer, this is 1000% bad news for me, and other people like me. I just wanna say, there has been a lot of controversy about this single topic, and we all know there is not going to be an end to it for awhile, but despite all of this, I'd like to say i don't entirely hate ai. Ai can be used for many good things, as you know. Like for hospitals in finding harmful 'things' in the human body, stuff like that. But the moment people take my work, dump it into a (GENERATIVE AI) slop machine, proceed to get rid of my free will to say, 'don't do that', and pump out copies of it letting it go into training of AI? HAHAHAAHHAHAAAHHSHAAHAA ₲Ɇ₮ ɎØɄⱤ ĐłⱤ₮Ɏ ₱₳₩₴ Ø₣ ₥Ɏ ₩ØⱤ₭- No but srly let me opt out i don't want this. This is original art btw made in Scratch editor And this is my main oc! (also, if you could maybe not worry about the face im still trying out artstyles it kinda looks bad right now...) I prob will not be posting art rn, or...anything, really, but i hope the situation will get better and people stop arguing. There's extra info about this here by : and an Ai boycott happening on Feb 1- Feb 7 by here: Note that i am not entirely sure exactly if they are training ai right now, but i'm going to say the terms of service here: "By Posting User Content to or via the Service, to the maximum extent of your rights to do so, including under applicable law, you hereby grant: (a) other users of the Service a non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, and create derivative works of such User Content solely for personal use within the Service and subject to these Terms; and (b) us a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license (with the right to grant and authorize sublicenses) to publicly display, publicly perform (including by means of a digital audio transmission), reproduce, distribute, create derivative works of, and otherwise use and exploit the User Content to provide the Service, for internal business purposes, to advertise, market, and promote the service, and to otherwise improve our products and services and create new products and services, including through THE TRAINING OF AI MODELS." They sent out another thing saying, "We also want to assure you that RIGHT NOW, we are not training any AI models on Scratchers’ data.", which is reassuring i guess, but they still have the will and power to do this and that's what concerns me. Because they could potentially just let the ai have at it without us being aware/informed. Most likely the Scratch team wouldn't do that, but still. I practically signed away any hopes and dreams of becoming a game designer on scratch if ai is just gonna eat it all... So that's basically all i had to say, i hope scratch does the right thing and adds a way to opt out, and I hope I will be posting again soon. bye. (im talking like I'm this famous scratch star lol)
(Edit: i feel like it's calmed down a little bit mostly since i made this so it's not as bad anymore.) (Edit 2: my scratch is currently down i can't go inside/edit my projects or see them i can only go on forum pages) Scratch please, Do not do this to your site. Do not do this to the people using it. Do not do this to us. Your scratchers. Please.
