Heya, ES715 here! --- *Before we get to this, I am NOT leaving, and I am NOT joining any studios. This is an opinion. Please don't argue with me.* THE STORY: So it is said that Scratch's NEW TOS talks about how AI can use YOUR projects to train AIs that "help" children with coding and computer science. (E.X Chatbots, etc.) Most people are pretty disgusted by it. This can clearly help newer Scratchers; however, people with more experience in this platform (and other platforms too) have seen how AI nearly wrecks foundations. I have seen it too, and the platforms that DID use AI to make major changes? Most people left. I'm pretty sure that it will be similar here too. I've seen countless people leaving; even some friends. But what about me? --- MY OPINION: Though my hate for this isn't as angry as some others', I definitely do not like this idea. I thought Scratch was supposed to be an educational coding website, and don't they strictly tell us not to steal? Isn't using AI for coding from other people to help children basically plagiarism?? Don't get me wrong, I used AI for at least a couple of times, even if it is for conversations only. I have no right to call myself an AI hater. But this hits different. It feels wrong for an educational website to be following the steps of other websites that were lead to their downfall because of AI. Won't they know what happened to those sites by now? And the fact that you cannot opt out on this is clearly making people who dislike AI uncomfortable. So my opinion? I'm not going to join any protesting studios; however, that does not mean that I like the idea of this. I am not going to leave. I'm probably going to stay. However, Scratch really has to fall back to the right track, otherwise their site will be abandoned.
