Tw for self doubt, mentions of murder and just general sad Shinehaze Shinehaze was in starclan. It felt weird, wrong. He had killed veir own sister. Destroyed his family. And yet he was residing in this starry plain. And Galepaw was stuck inside the dark forest. If he could swap places with chaos, he would in a heart beat. But unfortunately thats just not how that worked. Shinehaze shook his head. He didnt deserve this, didnt deserve the stars opening up their arms to welcome him. Vey hated being here. Hated the peaceful happiness of the place. But more importantly, he hated his own name. Or maybe hated himself for carrying the name. He hadnt realised it until he had flinched when Galepaw had called out to vem. He was named after inhibitorshine, his father's best friend. A cat who, he was sure, did more worthy things in her life than he did. How could he carry her name, honour her, when he had destroyed his own family? He couldnt do it. And he couldnt bear to carry that burden of failure, hear it every time someone spoke to him So what could he do? Vey would not longer be known as Shinehaze, thats what he would do. But what could he be instead? His first thought was Nighthaze. The night was dark, surrounding, overwhelming. Except it was also beautiful, stars decorated the night sky and the moon showed off its beauty. So that just wouldnt work. He thought for quite a while and eventually vey landed on one in particular. Fire was a dangerous thing. It destroys and harms. Like him. Vey saw what a simple fire had done to mossclan. But it is also stunning, in a way. It provides warmth, light. But what comes with fire that he just couldnt think of a positive to? Smoke Smoke was thick and grey. It consumes things, leaving its mark. Its harmful, impossible to escape. What was the point of smoke except to cause more destruction? And that is what shinehaze is, a destroyer. Vey gave himself a sharp nod. He would no longer be known as Shinehaze. That name had been an honour, one he had betrayed. He would now be known as Smokehaze. That was a name he could live with.
Not my best writing but whatever Shinehaze now goes by Smokehaze, although he is still registered under Shinehaze. He will just introduce himself as Smokehaze and will potentially correct anyone who uses his old name.
