soooooo......guys. the Scratch Ai situation is getting kinda out of hand, isn't it? ST gave an update they wouldn't be implementing generative Ai (you know, the kind that steals people's art and makes cursed, lazy images), buuuut people are still going crazy about it, because there is still misinformation floating in the air regarding Ai. The boycott is still happening (and the studio description HASN'T been changed, causing more confusion and distress over something that ISN'T happening), people are leaving Scratch for mostly nothing, overall people are making a HUGE deal out of Scratch making a bot that helps you code, come up with ideas, and fix bugs. You bring up Ai in a conversation, or push back on something in a somewhat polite way, and artists, people of your own kind, will pick fights with you and get mad at you for "telling them not to hate Gen Ai"– which you aren't saying at all (yes, this has happened to me). Someone even told me "If you're not an artist you have no right to tell me that Ai DOESN'T SUCK"– which was really hurtful– I said nothing of the sort and I AM an artist, if you just check my profile and About Me...it's really not that hard to do ^^" So I'm leaving. TEMPORARILY, until I complete the next chapter of Resonance Rising, so like around February or March. I will be (yes, I WILL BE) done with ALL UNFINISHED PFP REQUESTS by the time I come back. Guys...you have no idea how done I am with this Ai stuff right now. I was celebrating my birthday literally a few days ago, then I hop back on to see ALL OF THIS DRAMA. People freaking out. Every click I found something Ai-related (whether it's pro-Ai, anti-ai, or something made by Ai). Then new updates from ST, and people continuing to "punish Scratch for stealing our art!" when right now, all Ai is going to learn from is our code... I am done with it. All of it. FOR NOW. Also, I still think the situation isn't the BEST. This is a site where kids learn to code, not slack off and let Ai do it for them. At the same time, y'all are acting like this is the end of Scratch. The end of the world. And I don't want anything to do with it. The best way to show Scratch you REALLY care? KEEP posting your art, CONTINUE to post your projects, and with each one, include a message saying something like "STOP AI ON THIS SITE". Don't let them succeed over you. Don't let them silence you or leave the platform, or stop posting. If you're going to protest, protest. Don't "leave until they fix a problem" which isn't even as bad as you describe. Bottom line, I'm leaving because people are being silly, annoying, and they're overreacting, and I want to be able to comment, click or post something without bumping into anything relating to drama about Ai. Anyway, that's the end of my rant. Peace, I'll see y'all in a couple of months<3 peak people: , thank you for not attacking me, and for being a decent person who actually reads comments thoroughly and responds accordingly. you are also very reasonable about this Ai situation<3 oh and for debating with me– in a very reasonable, calm, respectful and open way. I actually enjoyed discussing thoughts on Ai with you lol
Resonance Rising !!!! ↴ https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1213386650 READ THIS https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1271341455 AND STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION ABOUT GEN AI BEING ADDED. THX update: i've heard a ton of people saying ai isn't being trained off of our projects (despite what the new tos allows), but i haven't found a source to prove this is real. can someone help btw i am not against ALL ai, i just think you should generally use it responsibly and try to limit your use of it. NEVER rely on it or let it limit your creativity
