*sighhhh* I know I have to make this project. I have to. This is important to me. Let me tell you everything I've gathered so far. At first, there was panic. Everybody thought that Scratch was using our art and code and anything else on this site to train AI models. Now, it seems, that isn't true. Although I'm not entirely sure, I think that Scratch isn't scraping our data for AI model training-- at least, not for the training of other, bigger AI companies like DeepSeek or OpenAI. They MIGHT (again, not entirely sure, don't take this as 100% truth) be using our work to train an IN-WEBSITE AI. I know they plan to add a coding assistant, and yes, that assistant is powered by AI. I'm not sure how they're training it, but with all the drama about "Scratch is using our work to give to big companies to train their AI", it makes sense in my head that people misinterpreted it, and Scratch is only using our work to train its OWN AI. However, I'm not sure, so please do your research before assuming what I say is true! Honestly, no matter what the whole situation is, I'm not happy if it includes AI. Scratch is a creative community, and AI won't help that-- it'll make it worse. It doesn't matter if the Scratch Team doesn't want people to use the AI as a replacement of creativity, because that's exactly what'll happen. I've seen it time and time again. DeviantArt, Tik of the Tok, Shmintrest, CapCut, and so many other sites. All of them introduced AI of some sort, and then immediately went right down the drain, or at least they deteriorated a noticeable amount. And it's going to happen here, too. My advice? It's the same as what you've been hearing from everybody else. RESPECTFULLY voice your opintions to the ST. They've stated time and time again that they're always open to suggestions and they listen to what we have to say. Let's see how true they are to their word. Be kind, respectful, but firm. Tell them you don't agree with this. Tell them what you've seen from other sites. Tell them your opinion. Ask them to keep AI off of Scratch. And if nothing changes? On the first week of February, we boycott. Don't log on to Scratch at all. Don't check your messages, don't play any games, don't even click on the website. We're going to make our voices heard, one way or another. Please, please, PLEASE be respectful to the Scratch Team, though. If you're rude, they won't listen. Don't harass them because you disagree. Calmly and politely explain that you don't like what they're doing and tell them how to fix it.
