Hello everyone, this is just a short recording of me playing a short snippet of the song Old French Song by Tchaikovsky on my Alto Saxophone! I've done this as a tribute to my old saxophone teacher. Scratch's recording quality did not like me, (per usual) sorry about that! So, as I have been adding little notes to each of the pieces I upload, there's something I'd like to share. So, I learned this song as my solo in Year 8 (I'm a Year 11 now, so a long time ago). As you may have noticed, aside from the horrible recording from Scratch (and my laptop), I... don't sound fantastic XD. Well... In truth, this song isn't really just "a song" to me. It was taught to me by my saxophone teacher Dominic Meehan. He was a fantastic, and extraordinarily talented musician and person in every way. You may have noticed my use of past tense. On February 28th of 2024, he was in a car accident and never made it. (You can likely look it up, but yeah). So to me, this is one of the things I am super grateful I had the chance to learn from him, along with a few other amazing pieces such as Morning from the Peer Gynt Suit (which I may upload eventually), and honestly, so many things that could never be amounted in words. So all in all, to me this song is basically a memory of Mr Meehan. This took me at least ten attempts (and a lot of debating whether to just stop) to fully record, because honestly, it does hurt to play this. But it is also how I keep his memory alive, so, here we are. As previously stated, I very nearly didn't upload this, but I think part of me just needed to have somewhere to actually... well, I don't really know the words I am searching for. But that's okay. Because you never need words to explain how someone (or something) mattered to you. Sometimes, the music can just do that for you. So here we are. If you made it all the way to the bottom, thank you, it does mean a lot.
