Yet another edit- I unshared my prev project, however everything will be inside this one if you want to see it still EDIT- y'all should look up "Jailbreaking AI's", it's pretty interesting and also another reason AI should not come to scratch More thinking has occurred now that we're several days removed from the issue. 1: They released an announcement on forums (linked in N&C), in which they say 'We also want to assure you that right now, we are not training any AI models on Scratchers’ data.' I would like to draw attention to the "right now" part. What will happen later? Can we trust them with our content? What if the next person in charge decides to? The fact is, as long as they have legal rights to our stuff, we're in danger. 2: Uh would they even want to train AI off of our art? Most of the art here would not make very good source material. Especially with glazing over it. They would want a wider variety of samples so their AI could generate anything. Most of scratch is cats and dragons and dogs and people art, don't think they're gonna be able to train a successful AI off of us even if they decide to. 3: They are actually listening. They are listening to the Youth board, they are listening to our comments and requests and protests. This is so good and I'm so glad that we actually have a chance to do something here. Bigger sites, they won't care until you hack them. If scratch unites, we might be able to make a change. 4: We need a goal!!! If they're actually listening, we have a chance- but only if we know what we want to ask for. Realistically, I think we need to ask for an opt-out and more transparency. We need the ability to say "we don't want you to use our art for AI, and we want to retain our rights to the art we made, and we want to know what it means to not opt out (i.e. what do you plan to do with our art when we don't opt out)." If there's a way for them to be able to still moderate and monitor and keep scratch safe while giving us more agency and ability to protect our art, then that should be our goal. 5: All of the events are still going on. The boycot is still in full force. My Hellopaint board is still open. We are still going to try to get our message across. Nobody's turning back now. Check out the links in the N&C for more info and events! :) Ok guys we're getting somewhere this is encouraging >:)
