She was still sad that their father wasn't there to see them, that he wasn't there to watch them grow, but right then all that mattered to Andromeda was that the kits grew up to be strong, kind, loyal cats. The firstborn, a gray and blue tom who had Andromeda's marking on his tail and paw, was resting with his tail over his nose, his tufty ears twitching now and then. Ani purred. Her eyes drifted over to the youngest, a gray and white she-kit with a butterfly marking on her chest. Andromeda drew a sharp breath as excitement fizzed inside her belly. She looked at the second oldest, a brown and orange she-kit with wing markings around her eyes. Ani grinned. If this wasn't a sign that she should name the kits after butterflies, then what was it? She didn't know where the sign had came from, but at that precise moment, it didn't matter. Three names flashed into her mind. Lifting a paw, she brushed the Monarch wing behind her ear and looked down at the brown she-kit "Monarch," She murmured. Her gaze drifted to the tom and then to the white she-kit "Morpho and Glasswing." A delighted smile spread over her face and she purred as she drew her newborn kittens closer to her belly with her puffy tail "My dearest kits." She purred as she drifted into sleep.
