Chapter 2: Moonkit Moonkit fled. She ran out of the nursery and stumbled into the next den she saw. Once she had a chance to catch her breath, she took in her surroundings. “Hmm. I’ve never been to this den before…” Then she realized why. This was the leader's den. She had escaped one problem but fell right into another. “What are you doing in here, little one?” Said a voice from behind her. Moonkit slowly turned around to see a speckled orange tom with sandy underfur. His left ear was torn. “I’m so sorry, Splinterstar.” Moonkit stammered. She wanted to leave but her legs weren’t working. “I didn’t know this was the leaders den.” “It's okay, Moonkit." Splinterstar told Moonkit gently. "Mistakes happen.” Moonkit nodded shyly. “Now run along back to the nursery before someone else notices you’re here” Her leader told her. Was that amusement she heard in his voice? Moonkit turned and hurried back to the nursery. Suddenly, she had an idea. She was going to sneak to the gathering tonight. She already had a plan.
