Green flag Lore: (CharloteGilman-v9k) During the Godseeker’s crusades, he employed many figures of questionable morality and origin; the Roaring Knight was among these figures. An assassin whose blade of red cleaved through steel and flesh alike, the Knight was spoken of all throughout Terraria in various legends of both terror and reverence. Chief among legends about the Knight was that of their fountains. When the Knight plunged their sword into the ground of the Astral Infection, a fountain of darkness opened and sent the infection back into the stars - where it would only fall again after a major magical seal was broken. Upon hearing of this feat, the Godseeker ordered the Knight to open a fountain for the Corruption. When the Corruption’s fountain flowed, it did not send the godly energy back to containment, instead, from the land bled a darkness that deepened, darker and yet darker. The Roaring Knight now wanders, enveloped in thick, inky darkness, their original body replaced solely by it. Some say if you listen deeply, you can still hear a girl calling for help from the darkness. Wiki Page: (outspade) The Roaring Knight is a Pre-Providence superboss that is fought in either the Underworld or Corruption/Crimson. While it can be fought later in the game, its loot table becomes unavailable if Providence is defeated before it, save for the trophy, relic and mask. The Roaring Knight is not mandatory to progression in any manner, and is instead intended to be an optional challenge for skilled players, rewarding them with powerful weaponry which remains viable up to the Devourer of Gods’ tier. SPAWN: The Roaring Knight does not spawn on its own and requires the player to summon it using the Darkened Core while in the Underworld or Corruption/Crimson. Upon being summoned, the Roaring Knight will immediately set the time to 12:25 A.M., and will keep it fixed there until the boss is defeated or despawns. When summoned for the first time, a brief animation will play where Providence, the Profaned Goddess is summoned, before abruptly cutting to her being killed by the Roaring Knight in one slash. The Roaring Knight will hover next to the player, roaring out before summoning its blade. This animation will be skipped on subsequent attempts, but will play for the first time the boss is summoned each time the world is loaded.

BEHAVIOUR: The Roaring Knight itself deals no contact damage, instead utilising a vast array of highly-damaging attacks to harm the player. The Roaring Knight will gain a melee hitbox for certain blade-based attacks, however this is solely tied to the blade’s animations themselves, with the boss still not dealing direct contact damage. In all Phases: - The Roaring Knight’s attack pattern is mostly predetermined, cycling through the same set of attacks in a set pattern. - The Roaring Knight becomes more aggressive as its health decreases, attacking faster as it gets closer to death, with its attack patterns becoming more complex at certain health thresholds. - Straying more than 175 tiles away from the Roaring Knight will inflict the Lost debuff upon the player, inflicting a screen-blinding effect similar to Obstructed which gets stronger the further the player strays from the boss. Because of the boss’ high movement speed and snappy motions, it’s often difficult to remain far from the boss for long, however the debuff decreases in intensity gradually over time while in the boss’ range, meaning that it can still create difficulty in dodging once returning to the boss’ range. - The distance beyond which the player’s vision will be reduced is represented by a blue gradient which overlays the screen as the player gets further away. - This effect is disabled during the Fountain subphase, and for 6 seconds after the subphase ends. - When at 15% health, the Roaring Knight will become immune to player-induced damage and enter a scripted bullet hell sequence, which gradually damages the boss over time. After a couple of seconds, this will automatically kill the boss, assuming it hasn’t despawned. In Expert Mode: - The Roaring Knight has 50% damage reduction until it reaches 75% health, at which point it will enter its second phase. Its attacks will continue to evolve past their maximum ramping in Classic Mode, introducing new aspects and beginning to overlap them in an attempt to overwhelm the player. - The Roaring Knight also gains some new attacks in its second phase: Fountain: - The Roaring Knight will plunge its blade into the ground, summoning a Dark Fountain. While active, the Roaring Knight will become intangible, and the player will have the Lost debuff forcibly applied. In this phase, several SPAWN enemies will appear around the player. These will accelerate rapidly while out of range of the player, decelerating once close to the player’s range of view. -The Roaring Knight can be damaged in this phase by killing the SPAWN, with each one killed dealing percentage damage. On the For the Worthy seed: - The scripted bullet hell at 15% is entirely replaced by the exclusive Truck miniboss. - Has increased projectile velocity. Notes: - The Roaring Knight only checks if Providence has been defeated when deciding whether to drop its loot table. For this reason, it’s possible to skip Providence to kill later bosses if the player is skilled enough, making the fight against the Roaring Knight easier. Its drops will still be useful to a player who does this, due to their relative power at this stage of progression. - If it is defeated in the Underworld, the Roaring Knight will leave its drops in a floating, fully-enclosed frame of Obsidian, similarly to the Wall of Flesh and Providence, the Profaned Goddess. - Unlike other bosses, the Roaring Knight will always drop every possible item in its loot table, including the Mask and Trophy, but excluding Thank You. - The Roaring Knight will retain its loot table after Providence, the Profaned Goddess was defeated if the Roaring Knight was defeated first. Drops: Coins (12-25 platinum) - Shadow Crystal - Black Shard - The Acoustic - Freezing Ring - Guardian Swarm Staff - Red Cleaver - Supreme Healing Potion (15-55) - Roaring Knight Mask - Roaring Knight Trophy - Roaring Knight (lore) (always on first kill) - Treasure Bag (Roaring Knight) (in Expert mode only) - Roaring Knight Relic (in Master or Revengeance mode only) - Thank You (1%)
