CH 7 Luca ----------------- Luca wanted to play in the snowball fight. And he wasn’t taking no for an answer. But he knew that if he was going to play, he would need fancy things to fight with. Luca thought for a while, drawing pictures of possible snowcastles to build when Drew walked in. She was Luca’s older sister. Her and Pipes didn’t like eachother but he didn’t know why. Either way, they both seemed to like him! “Hiya, Drew!” said Luca excitedly. Drew's face turned to a smile. “Hey, little guy! What are you drawing?” Luca realized that he probably shouldn’t be drawing pictures of fight plans if he wanted to play without them finding out. “Nothing,” he said, stuffing the papers under a pillow. Unfortunately, Drew was smart. “Ha, got it!” she said quickly, reaching under the pillow and grabbing one. “Hey!” Luca protested. “Snow… boll..” she tried as she read his 9-year-old writing. “Ball,” Luca corrected. “Snowball…castle?” “Yep!” said Luca. “..Are you trying to join the fight?” “Yeah, but Pipes doesn’t want me do” Luca pouted. “She doesn’t?” Drew said curiously Luca decided to try his new power he found. Charmspeak, his siblings had called it. “Yeah, but I totally should because I’m almost a deecade old.” “Okay, first it’s decade, and second, did you just try to Charmspeak me?” Dang it. Luca had forgotten that it didn’t work on his siblings. “Noo…” “Sure. Well, I personally agree that you should be able to join!” “Really???” Luca asked, his excitement restored. “Yeah. Can I tell you a secret?” Luca nodded. He liked secrets. “I played for the first time when I was 8.” Luca’s eyes widened. She had played when she was even younger than he was! “Yeah, I played it with my older sister. We didn’t win, of course, but neither of us died or anything.” “Wow! What one of our sisters did you play with?” Drew paused for a second. “...Silena.” “I haven’t met her yet. There are so many new people here!” Drew smiled kindly. “She isn’t here anymore.” “Oh. Where'd she go?” “She’s… with her boyfriend right now.” “Ew!” Luca wrinkled his nose. What was it with all of his siblings and love??? Drew laughed. “So, if you want to play, I can help, although I am already teamed up with a boy from the Hermes cabin.” “Okay!” Luca said, too exited to care. “Also, Piper doesn’t want you to play, which doesn’t hurt. Anyway, I think the Hephestus cabin has a shield they threw out.” “Why did they throw away a shield?” “It wasn’t the right shape or something,” Drew shrugged. “So, do you want to go and grab the shield?” Luca’s eyes widened. Was she suggesting they steal? “Isn’t it bad to take something that isn’t yours?” “Well, they dont want it anymore, so I’d say it’s fair game. Just don’t tell anyone.” Luca considered what his sister had said for a second. It was true, if they didn’t need it and he did, maybe it would be fine. “Okay!” “Great, let's go,” Drew said. They stuffed his drawings back under his pillow and trotted off. Luca smiled. He finally had a secret of his own, /and/ a sister to share it with. This camp was so much fun!
