Hello friends! I've worked on my book Navelore (na-vih-lore) so I thought I'd share a possible first chapter :D Please tell me any thoughts or feedback you have! I really appreciate it. <3 *This is unfinished, so if you see an asterisk it's likely so I remember to come back to that bit. Side note why can I not draw a heart XD
Prologue In an ocean of infinite emptiness, a light burned bright and fierce. It hurtled through the ever-still void of darkness, demolishing anything in its path. The ball of pure fire shot towards a blue marble growing bigger by the moment. And although no one on that little insignificant orb knew, one thing was for certain: A star had been born. Chapter 1 The dream So close, yet so far. The arrow moved so fast, like its bow kin had flung it with the strength of a thousand boulders. The mind attempted to run and follow. But as always, something held back. The arrow continued to soar farther and farther away, only growing in speed. A cry rang out into the night. But the only answer received was the arrow disappearing into the shadows. Cass jolted upright, nearly knocking into the thick, rough tree branch above. The sun was just peaking over the horizon, tinting the sky with dusty golden and rose hues. He gripped the rough ground beneath him, shards of pavement pushing into his fingertips. Painful, yes. But at least something real. Despite the warm, sticky air, Cass shivered. These dreams had been chasing him for years; the arrow begging and tugging at his conscience to follow, yet just out of reach. It made him want to scream and cry and grip/pull/yank something harder than humanly possible. He squeezed his eyes shut, dark wisps starting to seep into him. Don't give in. He managed to grasp onto the light of the sunrise leaking into his vision, and after several shaky breaths he reopened his eyes and blinked away the last of the darkness. A small, colorful bird soared overhead and landed on a tall iron gate nearby. It shook itself, as if brushing off the night's *insert word here*, and began to preen its bright feathers, which were shining all colors of the rainbow in the morning sun. The little feather tufts floated to the ground, and the bird lightly clucked and chirped an awakening call. ---
