I have read a LOT of scratchers projects ab this, so I think its time to post one of my own. I do know that the Scratch team/whoever writes the TOS snuck a clause into the TOS to say that the Scratch team could use our art and stuff to train Ai models that could be used commercially. I know that people are leaving because they are worried about all their stuff and style being stolen. And I know that this reason is because the Scratch Team probably needs profit. I got at least ten emails in the past month for merch and membership from the Scratch team. But I'm not leaving. I'm scared. Every artist, coder, writer, and creator is. But we shouldn't have to build this community elsewhere just because AI is trying to steal it. I know I'm being stubborn, because I am a stubborn person (I think). Scratch is a place like no other. Every other social media platform has corruption and toxicity and harsh, mean comments. That still happens here, but there are filters. There are ways to prevent that. It happens LESS. Scratch is a place made for us. Made for artists and coders and content creators that aren't old enough to join Facebook or Reddit or whatever. And it should stay that way. I personally feel like I shouldn't have to hide myself away from this AI threat. I feel like every project, every comment I share is a way of me saying: I'm still here and posting crap. I keep most of my art on Procreate and in sketchbooks off Scratch anyway. Why should I care? I don't want to leave. I don't want anyone else to leave. I mean, if its for your mental health and stuff, then yeah. But if your just leaving because of AI, then you shouldn't. If you feel forced to leave because of it, but you don't want to, stay. I check the 'liked by scratchers you're following tab' every morning. I see projects like this, but I also see little acts of defiance. People are still posting memes. Still posting art. Still opening DTAs, OTAs, DMACs, CCs, all that. We are still alive. We are still here. We will get through this. And if I go down, at least I'll go down swinging.
