Space or arrow keys to move the slides. ____ So, uhh I am fine with AI, but if scratch gets to use our projects and our creations with us not being able to opt-out, well, that is unfair to some scratchers. I guess I am fine with this, but I am protesting for other scratchers who don't agree to this new policy. So here comes a big explanation an other random stuff. :P ● Breakdown of what scratch is saying: - Posting any user content (whether it be text, forums, images, etc.) grants scratch the right to use it for AI training and for third parties to use it for the same purposes, which is explicitly written right here in their general. ● What this means (for me/you as a user): - Normal things we post on scratch can be used legally by scratch/affiliates to train AI, even if it isn't intended to be used that way. - Agreement to the Terms of Service means we've agreed and that scratch doesn't have to ask for permission again to use the stuff we post. - No opt-out, so the only way to avoid it is to not post anything. ● How does this affect me/artists/content creators? - No opt out, your stuff can be used to train AI anytime. - Perpetual and irrevocable license; even if you unshare or take down your stuff, they may still have the right to use it for AI content. - Your content could be copied, analyzed, or included in datasets that generate new AI art/content without permission or knowledge for potential commercial AI models, not just for internal research or testing. - Control over your own art is limited, and your content/art could be contributing to AI models. Honestly most of this is legal stuff, but it's a bit weird and I'm not happy about how there isn't an opt-out or notification that your stuff will be used for AI. What do you guys think of this? The best way to protect your stuff against AI training is to not post stuff that you don't want to be used as AI training. I know it sucks, but I guess Scratch started it. Thank you for reading. (If you did lol.)
Btw, please appreciate my hand-drawn thumbnail! Thanks to @CupieMaster for parts of the screenshots and writing the base of all this writing. (Did you really think I wrote this all by myself? XD) Please do not go hating on scratch team members for what you read here! They do NOT control what goes into the terms of service directly, and some were not aware that this would be a new addition! They are only here for moderation, not writing legally binding documents! Also, I recently learned that the AI is for a new debugging feature in your projects, but Scratch didn't say that directly, so Scratch is actually trying to do us a favor. And plus, the Scratch AI model hasn't even been launched yet. So there is really nothing to complain about.
