Comic by Flick Scroll for Image Description || You don't have to read the rest of this part, but I do recommend reading through the notes and credits; it adds a lot more on the topic that Flick failed to explain. I don't feel like drawing any pages myself. || It/His source is not related to the comic. You can ignore the very covertly fictive shaped representation of it/him. (using it/him bc in the image ID on tumblr, which Flick might have wrote, it is used several times but previously he was the only preferred pronoun; it might have just been for ease of the ID as well.) -Hawthorne (He/him) Here is the Image ID in case: 1. A comic with no clear panels. A shadowy person with a CRT TV for a head (it has a light pink frame and red eyes with upside down triangles for pupils)and a top hat kicks open a door floating in a red textured background. White text is next to the person representing it's speech: "[censored] I guess we doin comics now! Have a something nobody asked for!" The word something is outlined to make it look like it's glowing. The person clasps it's hands together. There is more text: "...Are subsystems alters with alters?? Haha I guess I'm just using the closest word to how I feel-" It then puts it's arms back down and gains a nervous expression. Text: "Anyway calling it a 'subsytstem' is entirely related to what headspace looks like. (For us of course)" And in smaller black text: "Do any other systems utilize the term like this-" The person closes its eyes and extends its arm which now has a hand pointer in it. More text: "See, for most of the system, headspace is just a void- but us TV girls got a dark red/~kaleidoscopic headspace(like the background of the comic)" And in slightly smaller white text: "There's also another subsystem and their headspace is an actual room???" 2. A shadowy person with a CRT TV for a head (it has a light pink frame and red eyes with upside down triangles for pupils, but the red of the eyes is extended downwards and to the side to represent tears) and a top hat has it's hands down to appear like it's slamming them on a table. There is white text next to it to represent it's speech: "Also when I think of images they're negative??? I need to get these imagined photos developed IG- Help me"
May I add to this: for most of the time, headspace doesn't really perceive the alters. Even in the Sao subsystem (which has an actual room) it'll be empty for periods of time; it might based on the current rotation of alters. Like how co-front and being blurred with another alter changes how much you're aware of them. So if they're not present at all, they won't be in any existing headspace; but if they fronted or were co-conscious recently, they might be there. -Hawthorne (he/him)
