This is a fictional vehicle that I made up. It was inspired by the X-51 Waverider. Press space to switch between slides. This vehicle is 35 feet long and can operate up to 100,00 feet high.
The Experimental Hypersonic Vehicle is launched from land. This hypersonic vehicle requires a rocket booster to accelerate to speeds required for scramjets, around mach 4 to 5. Once the rocket booster is no longer needed, it separates from the rest of the vehicle, falling into the sea to be recovered. The scramjet then ignites, accelerating to mach 6. This version includes a camera to observe for the autonomous control system. To prevent overheating, heat resistant tiles are placed on the underside to minimize damage. Currently, this vehicle is unmanned and can fly for 25 minutes before running out of fuel. Once its fuel is depleted, it deploys its airbrakes and glides for a few minutes before deploying its supersonic parachutes and landing in the ocean. In addition to heat resistant tiles, this vehicle uses its fuel as coolant before using the fuel for propulsion.
