[~ The Fluttering Bee ~] { The Storms Will Sing - Page 2 } A queen from nearby stretched and yawned and smiled at DoveMist. “I see they’ve opened their eyes!” She praised, purring, and her kit, a small brown tom-kit with flower-like markings wobbled over and perched himself on the end of their nest, gazing down at FawnKit. “Her eyes are different colors, like mine!” He gasped, then looked up at DoveMist. “Why doesn’t she look like you or VibrantCrash?” He asked and the queen cuffed him on the ear gently as FawnKit glared up at him. “BeeKit! That’s rude! We don’t talk about the way a cat looks!” The queen scolded and DoveMist chuckled. “It’s alright, SymphonySong, he’s just curious.” She then turned her attention down to the small brown tom-kit, BeeKit. “She gets her looks from her aunt and my mother.” She explained. “She’s named after her aunt, DeerKit, as well.” She added and FawnKit looked up at her curiously. “Who’s DeerKit? Why hasn’t she come to visit us? And if she’s my aunt, why is she still a kit?” She bombarded her mother with questions, excited to learn about the cat she was apparently named after. “She’s my sister. She died when we were kits, me and her were very close though.” DoveMist explained and FawnKit caught the flash of grief in her gaze, clearly SymphonySong had too, because she gave her a sympathetic look and gently brushed DoveMist’s paw with her tail. “Wow…what was she like?” FawnKit asked, wondering if maybe talking about DeerKit would help her mother grieve. DoveMist gave a reminiscent smile and pushed FawnKit gently towards the edge of the nest with her tail. “She was wonderful. But that’s a story for another day, PebbleKit looks as if she’ll burst if she’s stuck in here much longer.” She chuckled and ObsidianKit nodded, finally speaking up. “I think she just might!” He exclaimed with a laugh and BeeKit wriggled free from his mother’s paws and bounded up onto the edge of their nest again, smiling up at DoveMist. “Can I play with them now?!” He asked, giddy with excitement and the thought of a game and DoveMist nodded, which earned a gleeful leap into the air from BeeKit. “Sure they can, but I think they all want to explore first. But if your mother is okay with it, you’re welcome to go with them.” She purred and PebbleKit stuck out her tongue at BeeKit. “Does he have to?” She whined and FawnKit pawed her scoldingly, flicking her tail, she was growing fond of BeeKit, he seemed like an exciting cat to be around. “Be nice! He needs friends too!” She scolded and smiled up at BeeKit, who returned the grin, his blue and green eyes flashing with joy and he leapt down into the nest, batting at PebbleKit. She leapt up and chased him out of the nest and FawnKit followed suit, giggling, with ObsidianKit at her tail. “Be safe!” DoveMist called from behind them, her tricolored tail flicking with worry and SymphonySong padded over, nuzzling her gently. “They’ll be alright, don’t worry.” SymphonySong purred, reassuring her friend. “If it’ll help, we can go sit out there and keep an eye on them from a distance. The sun might be good for both of us, you’re looking a little pale.” She joked teasingly and DoveMist chuckled in disbelief. “I’m always pale!” She exclaimed with a laugh, and that was the last of the conversation FawnKit heard before she focused on chasing her sister and BeeKit. They giggled and ran, until FawnKit tumbled and landed at the base of a large warrior’s paws, she looked sheepishly up at the tom, he was black, with blue grey and white markings and resembled her brother. She recognized his scent and leapt to her paws, a purr rumbling from deep in her throat. “Hi dad!” She beamed up at him, her tail whipping back and forth in excitement, PebbleKit, ObsidianKit, and BeeKit all skidded to a stop and sprinted over.
