Or, was a cat, nobody is quite sure if it's still a cat after all this. Once upon a stormy morning, a girl about 7 years picked it up and decided to give it a home. About halfway through vaccinations and getting it used to the new indoor climate (which it did not like) federal agents showed up at the door. What happened was basically the plot of ET from the perspective of Keys, except one thing. They had the wrong alien. The cat wasn't an alien, actually, but after you've just announced to the public that you've made first contact, you kinda have to keep it going. The cat was repeatedly auctioned off to several scientists after it's death (inflicted by a group of researchers on purpose) because it was rendered useless. Everything that could be done to it could, and it was figured out that this was actually just a regular housecat. Until a man who was regarded as a genius for many years, had slipped into madness and then back out again (Nobody believed the third part) declared something. He could cure death--and would do so on the false alien to prove his influence. And he did, and the public sang his praise. Of course, there were a few naysayers. Actually a lot, enough that his home was under constant attack. In all this chaos, the cat fled to where it knew it would be safe. The girl's home. But the girl, not much older than 10, had lost her life in a protest against the very man that brought the cat to life about a month prior. There was nothing more to do but flee, flee back to the roadside and back to the highway and back to the dust forevermore. At least it was immortal. Immortal enough to watch society impale in on itself.
