Welcome to the ScratchRunning Podcast! The SRCast is a monthly podcast, aiming to talk about all things that could interest you as a Scratcher! Things are changing fast on Scratch. But some things never do. Casey, the creator of Oddbrawl Arena (WIP) joins us to talk about some of the new Scratch TOS changes, and the ups and downs of working on games that try to have an active community around them. ❗❗ Please voice your support for increasing the .json file size limit and head over to: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/762899/ Please also, at least in short, say why you support the limit increase! Here's a few examples: @Coinpup wrote: "Scratch is about creation, giving the opportunity to make big things should be encouraged ngl" @AnActualScratcher wrote "It is clear the JSON limit is a hurdle that too many developers cannot overcome when making clear visions of their games. I believe it would genuinely be an improvement to the overall website and to its developers, who could finally create the projects they want without having to forcefully downsize their projects." @Apfellord wrote: "Lots of very talented Scratchers I've seen and met on here either have had to cut their larger projects short, awkwardly slice them up into multiple parts, or are entirely discouraged to keep working on them, as there is no way to see the size limit within the scratch editor. Doubling the size limit of the .json file to ~10mb would already be incredible, though, seeing how there is no real limit to the amount of assets, I don't think anyone would mind raising it to a 20mb or even 25mb limit." @ga1asta wrote: "I get that maybe ST probably put the limit really low because they think that scratch is typically used for smaller, less ambitious projects made by those testing the waters of programming as a whole, but there's an entire community of scratchers that they're ignoring: the ones who never leave As someone who never leaves, it would be such a lifesaver to increase the limit. there's no place like Scratch" wrote: "As a multi-year Scratch creator, the 5MB JSON limit is really holding the community back. I'm developing a massive RPG game, but I can't even upload the DEMO of it, all because I wanted to give it a real story and a large world that truly put you on an adventure. If the limit was increased, perhaps struck down entirely, high-level scratchers can create and release much higher quality projects, show the younger generation the great heights they can reach with Scratch, and inspire them to innovate more than we ever could." wrote: "There is so much potential in how creative every scratcher on this site can be with the project limit increased. I've been here for a decade and I've seen people fight for this change ever since. I've seen so many teenagers on here create some of the most technically impressive work I've ever seen, and being able to make the projects of our dreams on this tightly knit community would be fantastic."
