It's no surprise big websites and corporations change their moderation to rely on computer-based decision making, like Facebook or Roblox, with the surge of reports and users to examine and decide innocence upon accounts of any kind. Many people like criticizing the moderation of Roblox, and while they have a multitude of points to make, I have never seen someone discuss how terrible the Scratch Team is at moderating their website just as often as Roblox is targeted. With the rising surge of Artificial Intelligence being a feature or requirement on certain websites, there are no surprises when one releases or announces a feature that says, "All of our moderation is now ran by crummy computers who don't even further analyze the problem; we just ban, timeout, or skip reports altogether!" I'm aware that not all websites do this, and take time and effort to evaluate their reports and take action as soon as possible. I typically only see this in low-traffic websites, but you can easily guess why; The more people on a website, the more reports. The more reports, the more time and effort starts going into just the reports, and sometimes they can even become too overwhelming for the workers to look and evaluate. Recently, I was given a tip by a friend of mine, GayPokemonNerd, that a Scratcher (whom will not be named for privacy reasons) might have taken their life. This was obviously not a joking matter, and I quickly asked if they were okay and tried to look at the account. Sure enough, it wasn't there. I asked GayPokemonNerd if they had any idea as to what happened, and they explained to me that they reported the page to the Scratch Team in hopes they would take efforts to stop the user from hurting themself, and get them the help they needed. Nope. The Scratch Team decided to ban the poor Scratcher instead of taking efforts to get them the help they needed, and now we don't know if they are okay or not. In Scratch's "defense", they can't look through all the reports they recieve all day, and therefore the AI agents that are constantly fed these reports and take action themselves are thrown out and the employees worry about maintaining the website as a whole. However, the employees need to pay attention to what the AI is getting fed, and occasionally check up on these reports they receive before the AI takes action. I highly doubt any sane person would decline a request for mental help, let alone the Scratch Team. It goes to show this entire team is messy and careless. My message is, do better. Stop actively letting users and your crummy moderation deconstruct this website. Take better control and action of yourself and this report system. Thank you for reading. - Marley
